Totally agree with rdsouza. As long as you are not buying or selling shares of an illegal, malpracticing or haram business companies it is absolutely halal. Else I don't find any logic behind even raising a question like this. Bank interest could be questionable but how come one can cast a doubt on share trading. It is better to understand what share trading is all about. When you buy some shares of a company, you are actually investing in the company. When the company makes a profit you take the share of the profit in the ratio in which you invested. Where is the question of haram and halaal? You may also have to bear the loss if the company goes in loss. This is business as usual.

it's very hard to say it halal or haram because you didn't mentioned what type/which company's share you are buying and selling.

nowadays there are many companies. some of the company do what: they sell the shares. from the shares money they take suppose 2/3 for their business and 1/3 they put on the bank in savings account/ deposits. so after few years they get exactly double money from the bank. on the other had, they make profit through the business. as a rasult their share's value increases most of the time.

so nowadays its very hard to say which company not keeping their money on the bank for interest. so, its good for a serious religious person not to deal with these share markets business.

you question is not so clear, so if you ask about doing business with other persons holing shares than its very important to both of you active during the business. i mean both of you need to work and after that you should share the money according to your profit/loss.

if one of you are not directly angaging with the business than it will not halal for him to take the profit's money!

This could be halal for Muslim brothers.

As a christian I think if a company is dealing in Haram, for example promoting products like drugs or abortions or any unethical practice then buying the shares of that company is definitely Haram. Buying shares is promoting the growth of that company dont you think ?

I had the same question and asked one of my qatari colleague. He told me that he asked one scholar and the scholar replied do you really need the money , again he repeated do you need the money badly and have no other choice. My colleague understood that the scholar is asking him to stay away from shares. I myself understood that since I have Alhamdullilah earnings no need to consider attraction to shares money. I finally decided to keep my depositsin islamic bank. Although t he returns are no where comparable still i feel that i have kept away from this business..

Brother evaluate yourself, the money that you earn is someones money the losers.
