Studying and working

Hello,

I hope I’m at the right place to ask my questions, so here they are:

I may get a scholarship to learn Arabic at Qatar University next year, and would like to know if I’ll be allowed to work part time as an international QU student, or will I need a work permit?

Also, I’m a secretary here in Paris but I’m on the dole since I chose to wear my scarf and not remove it at work, no employer would accept my dress code even though I’m qualified with several years experience... It’s disgusting illegal as scarfs are banned only in the public sector, but that’s how things are. That’s why after my scholarship at QU I would like to stay a couple of years in Qatar or any other place in the region and try to get a job, God willing. Yet I’ve read several secretarial job offers on the net and realized that gulf employers often request someone with an excellent presentation, now here is another question: what does “excellent presentation” mean over there? of course as a secretary one should always dressed professionally, but does it also mean “European dress” and therefore no scarf? are there companies that have such a request? I’m just wondering, as I’m fed up being out of work only because i refuse to compromise my convictions, but it would be heart breaking to face the same problems in a Muslim country.

And one final question: what king of level in English is usually expected from a secretary as I'm moderately fluent, and are there any job offers for French speakers or is it rare?

Thank you in advance for your replies and advice.

 Au revoir

Hello,

Thank you for your feedback kazeem I appreciate it, but I don't "know you well" just as you don't know anything about me except what's written on this post, and if you refer to my reply to your PM I tell again that I'm here only to get as much information as possible about living in qatar. This is just to clarify things...

Peace
