Teachers from developing counties are paid less though they put in more than the effort needed..

If the schools are yet another business module, what more to talk. School should make characters and discipline. I have emphasized previously and will stand in future as well that academicals qualification should be followed by the character.

Btw: In relevant to the teacher’s salary In general should go up. No matter which nationality it is. The teachers should be respected and they should be well paid. We used to stand when a teacher, or parent pass by during the college days. The principal just stand still and say “Good Morning” when the student say good morning to the principal.

I like to see that happening in all the school.

In the meantime a contribution of a 100 more riyal monthly to the school to uplift the teacher’s salary by the parents, will this make a different. If a school has 2,000 Kids for an example, the total would be 200,000 QR. Can this be distributed to the teachers. How many parents are agree on this. At the first instance I agree.

Above is my personal opinion only.

blueshift: The impression I got was that the parents were led to believe that if they didn't take tuition, their children "may not do well" at school

I wouldn't call it a scam Britexpat - some people have a lot of money and are don't mind spending some on their kids. What else would they do with their money? Buy another Ferrari so they have another car to get stuck in a traffic jam?

Actually I've encountered this myself. Some teachers make a very good income providing private tuition (whether European or Asian). I know one Asian teacher who charges 200 Ryals an hour for private tuition and has no shortage of customers.

I agree . I met a Pakistani teacher in Riyadh and he was making around 35k a month

Tuitions are a scam and used to fleece parents

Indian teacher are earning a lot in private tutions specially the one teaching higher board classes. On an avg they earn 20,000-25,000/ mnth " . Many Indian school teachers are staying in Barwa where min rent in 5K. How can they afford if their salary is low.""yep I agree not all Indian teachers earn well but majority"

Source:- "I am also a ex-student of an Indian school and use to go for tutions"

The bottom line is - Don't sign the contract. Create a shortage and slaries will go up ...

You have just answered your own question.. The schools hire teachers who may not be qualified because its a business. Supply and demand.

What do you wn the SEC to do? If SEC imposes strict guidelines, then schools will put up the fees and parents will cry foul..

As for payment for potential - That does not make sense. How do I know what the "potential" of a candidate is ..

Regarding salary and nationality - that is an ongoing argument and not pertinent here

SEC should come up with a universal system to hire teachers based on merit.. It is not necessary that every European teacher is better than an indian teacher.. Each and every country has teachers and they differ in potential.. Payment should to made based on potential and not nationality

Indian schools in Qatar hire Indian teachers and they make huge money in terms of fees.. They fail to pay the same to teachers.. There has to be fair payment to teachers is what I feel..

You are absolutely right.. They sign a contract offered.. Every woman on husband sponsorship becomes a teacher irrespective of teaching qualifications.. However, the actual teachers, who are qualified and experienced suffer..

If Indian teachers were paid the same as European expatriates, there wouldn't be any jobs for Indian teachers.

Who says they are paid less ?

It's all subjective and a result of supply and demand

You sign a contract accepting the salary offered . There is no compulsion to take the offer - is there
