Working Hours
Hi All
I have been offered a position in Doha and am in negotiations for a suitable package but I am a bit unclear regards working hours.
Can anyone advise what a standard working week in Qatar consists of.
Does anyone have flexible working such as 40 hrs but over only 4 days or do business tend to stick to office hours only ?
Contract says something about a normal weekend is Friday, I assume this is the start of a two day break, commencing work again on Sunday morning.
PS I'm in the transportation planning and engineering business if this makes any difference
Thanks in advance for any clarity
it probably means you only get friday off. Many people here work 6 days a week, particularly in construction / engineering.
hassan, well explained!
JUST TO CORRECT , most govermental establishments have working hours from 8 till 3 or 7 till 2
Working in a govt organization or private company makes a lil difference. Mostly its 8 hrs a day. 5 days a week.
only few international companies have flexible timings but 5 days is mandatory.

48 hours six days a week

Friday is statutory day off, all others are discretionary

No difference
Most global consultants work 5 days a week (Fri-Sat off) and 45 hours, at least the ones I know in the transportation engineering business. Does your contract state 40 hours?
I am not aware of a 4-day work week; in any case this cannot be a standard entitlement and is one that could be discussed on a need basis.
