You cannot hold employee by your dirty trick

There are so many reasons employee has to lie here in Qatar and once they leave never comeback.

1. Slavery law -even on professional level. You are not allowed to leave country for your own wish, even for one-two days of your holidays. Every time you need your boss permission. So why should I become slave when I have better option else where?

" If you love someone let him/her free, if she/he comes to you... it is yours.. otherwise..." You cannot hold people by force... by slavery rule.

2. Employers refuse to give NOC letter or release letter. Professionals/Engineers should be treated with respect for the knowledge and skills they have and they play major role in development of country. This may be the reason, I don't see many qualified and skilled professional here. Even they are here, they may be because they are stuck or for temporary period.

3. Salaries are low. Most of the cases salaries are low and living cost is high. You might ask me- then why you sign such contract? Yes-you are right, anybody join and start working hard thinking that he will get better change later on or increase in salary but due to one way slavery rule-employers exploit their employers and they have no other choice but to find some other mean to scape.

4. Government listen one way only...let me give you example. Once your employer fire you, he has right to depot you in a week but but you have no right to ask NOC letter if he is not giving one, but government still protect him. Further more if he has loan... he cannot even leave the country. If he cannot work(due to NOC) then how he will pay his loan? Further more due to illegal stay here... (he has to pay fine daily... I don't know much about it)

Well that would be a great thing for Qatar and for the expats. I look forward to the day when it happens.

The rules have to change or everybody who has real skill or is talented at their work will eventually just leave.

Already many companies are using sub-standard (low cost)engineers and methods, and such safety controls as exist are inadequate or routinely misused/abused.

One day there will be a major incident such as a building collapse or a catastrophic failure at one of the O&G installations.

All the warning signs are there, it's only a matter of time before it happens.

When I was in Saudi, there was a saying.."That people work in Saudi to build houses, educate their children etc in their home country, but never have a good thing to say about the country once they leave"

This seems to be coming true for Qatar also..

back in the old days when the economy was small and primative. In the long run though it will hold back the development of the country. It will reach a point and level out or even go backwards. I believe the government has the will to change some of the laws but is coming up against strong opposition.

Long term is they want the country to be self sustaining they will have to give out passports but that's another thing entirley....

Very strong laws and issues that plague Qatar labor laws.

If they want a change, then start with the current laws to be amended.

Yes, it is a form of slavery in nutshell.
