Hello everybody, I wonder if I can get some tips about how it is to work as a general dentist in Qatar. I have a master degree in dental surgery from Sweden and wonder if I can get the opportunity to apply for visum and work in Qatar.

Thanks in advance.

Best regards.

Sure you can come down and work as a dentist. It appears from your name that you possibly speak Arabic. If so, you have an advantage over many dentists who don't speak Arabic. However, you need to know some facts about Qatar.

First, Qatar is a small country and it has just one city Doha where all activity takes place. The low-salaried worker force forms the major part of the population. They are always on the lookout for cheap medical treatment. Many of them coming from third world countries, go to a dentist only when they suffer a serious tooth problem and after over-the-counter medicines have been tried and failed to work, There is no such concept in their minds of going to a dentist for a yearly checkup.

In a city like Doha, there already exists many dental clinics and sure there is some competition. So, you will feel some tough times here. Getting people to know you will take some time also.

I suggest you write to the dental clinics in Doha and let them know about your qualification and experience. Possibly, they may get interested in hiring you and things can then move ahead. You can get their names and contact details through Google.
