Golden High Tea at Café Murano
I’ve been to quite a number of high teas in Doha – it seems to be really popular at local hotels – but this one is pretty impressive.
Introduced this autumn, the Golden High Tea is a blinged-up version of the classic English afternoon tradition. While there are a variety of teas to choose from, the cappuccino is really worth ordering as it comes with a froth topped with sprinkles of gold leaf and swirls of chocolate syrup. There’s also a dusting of gold across the dainty French pastries, with gold-decorated teacups to add to the effect.
We were happy to find out that the food is as tasty as it is pretty! I particularly liked the cucumber carpaccio and sour cream sandwiches (you get a variety of sandwich flavours), the smoked salmon canapés and the delicious fresh scones with jam and cream.
At QR220 for two people, it’s a good choice for an outing if you’re entertaining visitors.
