I do agree with Han19. Being a civil engineer with 20 yeas of experience, u should get atleats 15-20K as base salary+accom(preferable company flat)+transpo+health+air tickets for urself and your family+education etc
So, ur package should be around (atleast)35k QR. If anything less than that, i would say you are going below the market value. It is worth mentioning here one fact that, here in Middle East you will be paid based on your nationality and what kind of passport you hold as well.
Dont be in rush in finalising any offers, discuss with qatar living forum, there are plenty of big brains sitting here and advsing people who have any queries.

am a lebanese fresh graduate engineer 23 yrs old, i had an offer of 8000 RQ,inclusive just transportation is supported by the company,btw it's a global petrolium company.so is it acceptable ?
subram....i am asuming you are working in india right now.
dont come here if the pay doesnt match what they give you in india and more than that.
20years of experience is a long time..so dont settle for less.
basic can be more than 15000.....becasue they would pay a westerner that much or more than that. if they desperately need you...then let them pay for your expereince.
so basic 15000+...i would say 20000.
accomodation: ask for furnished accom or 9000+ as rent. better is for furnished accom paid by company.getting a place is difficult here
school fees if kids are in school
transportation provided or car loan
health benefits
end of service benefits
if any govt companies then ask for only senior positions
tickets.
family status.if its a senior position it will be family status.
if you dont mind can you tell me how much you are etting right now in rupees.i can advise you better than and what is your field of expertise. my dad would be the best to give the right figures...becasue he handles this on an everyday basis.alhamdullilah.

minumum salary for civil eng 4000 QR (1100 USD $)with Accommodation,for 20 years exp the salary shall be more than 4000 QR,I think it will be around 12000 or more...
