Dubai Bank Dues
When i was in dubai i had a credit card from a bank. When the crises came I had to use it as the employer was not paying us salaries. When i resigned I expected the employer to pay atleast a part of my dues out of which i had intended to clear the credit card. But it did not happen. So i left dubai without paying the card and the bank kept sending statements and now shows the balance at 65,000 AED for a card with a limit of 23,000 AED.
I came to Doha about a month back on a much lower salary. Somehow the bank in Dubai has come to know that i am in Doha & got hold of my numbeer in Doha and has contacted me. I said i will pay if they can give me a settlement but they are insisting on paying up full. This bank has a branch here in Doha and say their agents will squeeze me to pay in full and will make it horrible for me.
My question is, can this bank file a case against me here in Doha since they have a local branch here? Can their agents harrass me and if so can i approach local police against them?
YOU SHOULD APPLY FOR SETTLEMENT WHEN YOU HAVE PROBLEM IN DUBAI IN YOUR CREDIT CARD THERE IS SHIELD INSURANCE
BUT IT IS TOO LATE
doesn't matter what country you flee to, banks can/will chase you if the amount warrants it.
Yes. they can register a case of fraud against you. The criminal databases of all the GCC countries are synched with each other.
you can file a police case if their agents harass you though but you will still be in legal trouble as you are the one who has run away without paying his dues.
