Food Prices gone up!

HM
By HM

Over the past 3 months (summer season) prices in Qatar on all F&B goods have gone up by min of 50%. Why is this happening? Especially prices have gone up during the holy month of Ramadan. Countrywide. Is this a seasonal increase and will go down towards the end of the year? Or is this a permanent increase which will seriously affect the pockets of middle class earning residents? I don't remember that prices would rocket high so much in past years during same period. There were times when some products would increase, but as it is normal in Qatar, they would bounce up and down (in the morning there is one price, in the evening different)...BUt now, prices are fixed, only bouncing up by 25-50 dirhams. Interesting. Would like to know if anyone knows any info on this. Please share

It's because the government put a cap on prices for Ramadan. Obviously nothing the government does, works in Qatar.

Inshaalah! if the company will give a 30% adjustment in their salary grade. .. as I was heard some companies cannot afford to give 10% for every year (as per Qatar Labour Law). and I heard some other companies are still on re-session (i dnt no the correct spelling) i mean terminating employees.

It seems we expat have no any choice to accept the continuous increase of price in all commodities in Qatar.

All food prices , cooking oil , vegetables , fruits, rice, essential commodities like ghee etc are Up by 30 % atleast . Something which goes up , never comes down is the rule by default . So it will stay there and people will continue to buy these items at increased prices .

But your salary will not go up by 30 % -will it ?

i also noticed the increase in price of some commodities in Doha, some items are not in good condition and some are out of stock in Doha. specially in Gallon mineral Water. I normally used Rayyan water but its always out of stock and the price is increased into 1 riyal.

Why its happening in DOHA?

maybe because the increase of demands! if its permanent I have to adjust my monthly budget for households.
