How is the live cost in Qatar??
Hi everybody,
This is my first time here in Qatar living.com I am from Syria and hopefully I will be at Qatar by the first of August. I need your help in giving me some information about the live there. and the cost of live. like how much i ganna to pay for independent apartment, what the average of car prices, how much the food is going to cost me, and everything else.
Thanks for your quick assistance.
Dear All,
Many thanks for your kind replies. and i hope to meet a nice people such like you when arrive.
DerekM everything depends on your living standard, your remuneration and your intensions. If you realy want to get a proper information you have to advise about the above. The info in the first answer looks like given by somebody who's not living in Qatar. Also it's important are you married, are you going to live here alone or with your family.
If you have a job offer,
and you are asking for advice on general life,
then take the first answer above,
If you are comming here to look for a job,...
Then it is not that easy
Good Luck in Both casses
rogeryu's answer was very informative but comparing the prices here with the prices in syria they are almost the same except for accommdation (much more expencive here) and cars are cheaper..but you will find a difference in taste i would just like to advise you what to bring with you from syria if you like zaatar and cheese nothing here tastes like our cheese we miss it sooo much
good luck anyway i feel so happy when i know that someone from my country is coming here i feel like we're a minority here
Hi,
I am unable to advice much about apartment costs. But generally I think it should fall between the region of QR7000 for a decent 2 room apartment to as low as QR2000+ for a single room. Do check around in this forum. There should be some good info.
For cars, it also depends on what you are looking for and how old. Depreciation of the car value is pretty high and difficult to let go. If you do not mind a simple old car, it can fall just under QR20K, send it in for some overhaul or replacement and it should last you for another year or two without much hassle. registration and insurance wise should not be exceeding say...QR4000 for a 2litre ?
I am definitely sure about the living expenses though. Are you considering on occassion simple meals outside or to cook? Self-catering throughout plus on occassion some outside food or take away will not bring you past QR2000.
If you drink once in a while, give yourself an estimate of say QR1000 which will include you taking a taxi back home from the hotels.
Resturants are also divided into different categories, some are really value for money and some can be alot more. It all depends on your personal consumption.
Hope it helps and welcome to Qatar
