How much should I expect to save in 20,000/- pm. I am married with no kids and considering a reasonable life style. This is an all in pay i.e I would have to take care of my housing also

Also what is the cost of car rental / Loan in Qatar ?

I would say you wont save much out of 20k, you would want a decent apartment / villa, good social life, weekends away.

man its upto you how u want to spend ur life....

geechee gave a good idea but i would like to tell u according to my observations/.....

QAR (Per Month) For 2 Persons

8,500 House Rent (this rent would be appropriate for atleast a big family villa)

keep rent at max 5000 if u r looking for a seperat two bed hall house... thts max if u look around a bit

1,800 Groceries+ Misc exps. (its reasonable same)

1,600 Car Hire / OR Loan installment + Petrol ( 1800-2400 if u r looking for a new model car and petrol will be additional, can say if u have good trips daily thn it would reach 200-400) if u go for a loan then it varies case by case and your choice of car

33 Land Line Rent

200 Internet at home

75 Television Channel Connection (combine all these three for mozaic tv for 250QR/m) but if u like to have good range of asian and sports channels thn bring any dth reciever along with u from india and u will get the antena here....

50 Mobile Rent OR Prepaid Card (better opt for a shahry pack , it ranges from 200 to 575 a month but prepaid is also a good option)

150 Water Charges

150 Electricity (upon ur usage but approximatly the same)

120 VOIP Call Card to call home country (its upto you but i think if y ou use vodafone thn calling india is not tht expensive)

200 Car Insurance (2500/12)if you own your car (if you own a car only thn and think its not tht much)

You can get 2 bed room with one sitting room flat about QAR 5500/- per month 3000 to 4000 rail is more than enough to full fill our daily necessaries. You can rent a room for atleast QR3000 above/ month that is decent enough since you are single. Car you can rent from QR1600 ~ QR3000/ month+ petrol. Groceries it depends on you also...life anywhere will be depending on how you would like to spend your money...be wise to save more money for your future and your family as well.

I will reply you in a very simple way. 20000 riyals per month is a good salary for an Indian to pursue a reasonably good family life here. Rents are now falling down and you will find a good flat within the range of 5000-7000 riyals. The rest is your daily expenses which you can adjust according to the lifestyle and still you can save a reasonable amount.

As far as saving is concern, have tried another approach? In achieving this goal, one must have a paradigm shift about this subject matter. Normally, we spend for the needs and wants, then what's left is what we refer as SAVINGS. Most often than not, nothing's left. So there's nothing to save. Instead of expense then save, try SAVE then EXPENSE. Set aside an amount for your savings first. What matter most is your intention to save the money for what ever purpose you're having in the future. Time and amount your keeping must also be consider. Wither you're earning QR 5,000 or 50,000, this scheme will aid you be in focus on your intention to SAVE rather than getting reasons of spending more than what you earn.

If you are an expat, surely you want a separate flat so, this will cost you already (from 6000 up 8500 a month).

Now, If you will buy a car (Sedan - cost 48T up 75T); Car Loan (from 880 QR up to 2000 QR) depends on what car you want to buy? Gasoline - 10 to 15 riyal a day if you are working in Ras Laffan...

Foods (assorted incldg) - weekly around 850 - 1000 QR.

Thats it...you can still save...but this is not including going out and have some fun in a Disco or drinking in a Hotel with your wife. Buying new clothes, bags, etc..

Hi,

Car Rental is around 2600-3200 depending on the car you get.

Accommodation in a unit is around 6-7K and in a stand alone villa is around 10-12K per month. Grocery is not that expensive. Fuel is dirt cheap at 3QR for 4 gallons.

Hope this helps.

Kind regards

the end is that it will be so so hard to save if you want but you can live reasonably and have fun

6,500 for a flat

No idea about your wife and your's life style: we are in very silimar situation...one car for hubby, decent apt. in city, I move by Taxi.. Mainly, women are the spending engine of this planet: transportation, relaxing fees( coffee/lunch with girlfriends), beauty cost( hair, nail,SPA....)Sunday branch in some Hotels, if you live in apt. without pool, maybe a club memership card in some hotel ( believe or not, it COST ), summer flight ticket for your wife to escape from 50 degree of heat....Her expense back home for the month of July/Aug?? Do you want to go to public hospital for medcare or prefer private?( I suggest to try both, then you will tell)...20,000QR won't stay in your account end of each month.

Your 20k a month is very tantamount to a lifestyle you wish to practice here. It depeds on where you wanna stay. How luxurious you wanna live in and most of all, how often you go out for fun. I you just intend to come here to work, then I must say that saving money is and will never be an issue with the amount that you will be getting.

I admire your position and who you would be to be getting that big. I wish I could get atleast 30% of what you will be getting.

Peace :-)

I see a lot of people have already written a reasonable answer, but keep in mind following:

- about flat or car rental - depends who negotiates. If a European person or a westerner in general - forget it to find those rates. For them everything is double.

- as many have mentioned - depends on lifestyle. For example one of the most difficult issues for women here - to find a normal hairdresser, beautician, etc. usually too expensive and very low quality / level of hygiene. If you go to a normal place - prices are ridiculous for what you get.

I think it will depend on what kind of lifestyle you want here, what nationality are you? If you are western I would say you wont save much out of 20k, you would want a decent apartment / villa, good social life, weekends away. If you are the sort of person who is just coming here to work work work, then you will be able to save more. It will be trial and error until you find the balance that suits you and the lifestyle you want to have.

QR 20,000 is good salary to live in qatar. As only u and wife u can get a small flat around QR 4,000 & living expense depend upon ur life style vary from 1,500 - 4,000.
