I'm struggling to find information on Mesaieed

My husband is in talks to relocate to Mesaieed in a married status position. He's asked me what I think and I really can't find out much online, it mainly seems to be about Doha.

We have a 9 yr old daughter, whose well being is the main priority. The package includes a 4 bed villa, enrollment to an international school (which as far as I can make out is not built or finished yet?) and basically everything we could wish for... apart from food.

I'm curious as to the size of the expat community in Mesaieed and how those living there find it.

Any information would be appreciated

Thanks

Mesaieed is an isolated community which houses workers from the local industries. The amenities are basic at best although some companies do have a good sports/ restaurant complex.

There are three major drawbacks. First the school is not ready and will probably not be ready for some time. Second life for a women in Mesaieed is not good. Go to the shops and there are hundreds of men and few women. Third in order to do your weekly shopping or have any major social life you have to go to Doha.

thanks but it looks like marhaba is only available when you're in the country (can't see an online version), I'm looking for info from the UK first

Thanks all for your responses, by the sounds of it I think it will suit us fine, I very occasionally have a party animal side to me but for that we can always visit Doha or have house parties... most of the time I'm just a boring mum who likes serenity. I'm hoping there will be other kids around my daughter's age and other women around mine to make friends with.

It would be nice to hear from other mums there too :)

anyone any idea what size the expat community is?

Mesaieed is a nice and quite place. It is about 40 Km South of doha Doha. i think its a good place. there is no big congestion, envoirnment is clean.

They are some good clubs inn this area where you have Golf, swiming, tennis and lot ofother activities, beach is very close, this is purely an industria area but neat and clean.

Yes international school is in construction. expected to start classses by dec end 09. but i think ur son is around 09 years and company here are providing school bus service and really it is good, kids enjoy to go thru these. on the other hand if you afford you can hire a driver and other car to drop and pick from the school.

Basically in Mesaieed, you get people working in QAFCO, QAPCO, QP, QASCO and QATALUM. Each company has their own residential space and have their own sports and recreation club. The community is mostly from India and Norway and then a variety of all other cultures. Its a peaceful community with almost everything in close range. Like Hospitals, Clinics, Grocery Stores, etc.

The only down part is the distance from places like City Centre. If you can sacrifice that, Mesaieed is lovely. Many parks and activites in the clubs to occupy your daughter.
