i have heard ,in order to sponsor a full time maid, both husband and wife must be working???Is it true.I am really interested in sponsoring a live in maid,as my baby is only a year old,and i need a full time maid.
Vijethpraveen you should use your words carefully. Apology accepted :-). I too quit my job 4 years ago when my In Laws had to go back to India and I was having my second child. I dont think I will ever work again (in an office). I do miss the independence and would love to help my husband financially but I think my kids need me more and by God's grace we are managing our finances well enough to have a third child now and still have the money for charity and our church. The maid is simply to give us a healthy well deserved break every now and then and to take care of all the household chores (for me its except the cooking part which is personal to me). Like I said earlier, the maid is helping us and we are helping her by giving her a job so she can have a better life too. Soniya, I replied about our visa approval issue. Hope you read that and I do hope and pray you get the house help you need.
No…. No….. No……No……..I didn’t mean what some of you understood. It was just my personal opinion. I am not at all against keeping a servant. What I meant was that a child better to be under the fulltime care of a Mother. A servant feeds a baby because it’s her work. A mother feeds her child because it’s her pleasure. Of course one should keep a servant for all other household works which will definitely lessen the load of a housewife. What, Soniya did is right. She has taken a break just to take care of her child. It was not my intention to hurt somebody. It was purely my personal opinion. There can’t be another like a mother.
I am really sorry if somebody is hurt from my comment.
Finally here are some quotes for the great mothers....
Sentimentally and affectionally Sonia is right, but no money no life, I drop my two babies early in the morning to baby care until 3-30 with no interest but what to do? no other option. If you are not highly salaried no other option.
We are also applying for maid visa, we both working and I am expecting my 3rd child. My husband's company's mandoop said that minimal salary requirements for the husband should be QR15K (if the wife not working). If both working and have children it is much easier to get the visa (dont know about this, will let you know once we got our maid visa).
I do have a friend with a sick wife with 3 kids, he got the visa approved, eventhough his wife just staying home.
Regarding the harsh comment about working mothers.
I am really regretting that, just like what Sally wrote, NOT EVERYONE CAN HAVE COMFORTABLE LIFE & STAYING HOME, I also wants to stay home with my kids and enjoy the time with them.
But unfortunately, one income can not cover even our very simple life in Doha, so please dont wrote those harsh comment.
No, both husband and wife do not need to work to be able to sponsor a maid. I know several families who sponsor a maid and only husband works. The issue is immigration will use any excuse they want to deny a sponsorship request whenever they want. That is the problem when public authorities have all the discretion to decide one your request. Good luck, and if you are denied the sponsorship request (despite fulfilling all requirements) try to talk with the boss in immigration.
Sally, well said..To handle a baby isn't an easy task...Men will never understand this..I have one baby but shez just out of control..V have to literally run behind her..She always keeps me on my toes..So i can understand ur pblm well...
Since i don't like MAIDS to be at home, i left my job for my baby..So i myself is a full time nanny for her..And i don't think i will work for more 2years until n unless she becomes fully independent of herself..
Vijethpraveen...That's very ignorant of you to comment like that. I am sorry but just because a woman asks for help at home it does not mean that she is giving up her child to a house maid. The whole purpose of a house maid it to help the mother with household duties that can take a lot of ones time away from the family and cant be ignored. Especially when a child is so small there is so much more work other than regular chores. As for mothers who leave their babies in creche, my dear, not everyone is financially stable enough to stay home with their children so its not a crime to leave a child at a creche as long as the child is well looked after. Its better you do that than starve right. Lots of kids grow up like that and in boarding schools, their love for their parents dont decrease and they dont grow up as bad people necessarily!! If a mother is asking for help at home with her child then she really needs it and should get it, have you heard of post natal depression??? Educate yourself and be a bit more compassionate before you make such comments!!!
I have two children and my third is due in March so we have applied for the maid visa approval. We should know today so will let you know what they say at the immigration. Best of luck to us. I really need the help and someone could do with a job.
My friend wanted to go to work only after her children get used to the maid ... but they were not allowed to bring one as she was not working yet ... it is like a vicious circle ...
In my openion, a mother better take care of a child atleast upto the age of 5 or 6. Just think of a baby, a year old when gets up and looks at a servant's face instead of his/her mother early in the morning. I really feel pitty of those children that do not get mother's care up till the age of 5 or 6. I have seen some parents who leave their children in baby care, early in the morning when they are asleep. When they get up they see just stranger's, not parents. Really that scene touched me a lot.

Not true at all...please use common sense
Not true, I have friends who were not employed and were able to sponsor a maid.
