Well said Timbo... I like your advice and strategy....
Claire... what sort or work are you looking for?
Well if you are a project manager I would guess you need to improve your English to impress any prospective employer.

This country is unlike many others in that it is very easy to get in front of the decision makers if you are brave.
Dropping off your CV will get you no where. It will be filed at best or thrown away; you need to talk to someone.
What you need to do is identify the companies you want to work in. Find out a little about what they do (on the web etc), make sure you know what you want to do and then go to the companies or call them and arrange a meeting with the head of HR.
Don't say you want a job. Be bold and brave and vague and say you have a proposition for him/her and need to chat.
if you are in reception 50% of the time you will get a chance to see him/her. Then go in and sell yourself.
This is 100% more effective than dropping off CVs. It does require a little bravery though.
I would assume you did your assignment already. Nonetheles, here are some tips.
1. organized a substanstial C.V.
2. Job hunting:
a. Broad sheet newpaper (Gulf times)
b. Internet based options ( bayt,monster etc.)
3. Ask from friends, referrals etc.
4. While waiting for these, prepare for your awaited first interview.
Hope this helps. Good luck.
You say you have been here for four days.I would advise you to check the classifieds on papers and in the site QatarClassifieds.com,you sure will get noticed then, and yes some companies also conduct walk in interviews for various positions,so that should give you a headstart. All the best!
