Hello to everybody,
i'm new to this forum and i wish to have your helpful and detailed opinions about a job offer which i have received together with my wife from a construction company in Doha.
About my offer, i will take care about the foreign affairs department of the company while my wife will work as an architect, both we have 5 years of experience.
The pacakge includs: 5000qar(for me)+5000qar(for wife)/basic salary, accomodation offered 3500qar/m, car offered 1700qar/m, health medical card, air tickets.
We have a small kid(2 years).
We have a normal lifestyle, no excesses.
Reading lot of topics about accomodation costs, we have lot of questions about what kind of appartment we must expect with the amount offered by the company.
We are evaluating this offer and we need your advices about livinf costs, saving,...
Thanks

Company accommodation will be as per your company rules. Accomodation provided by company does not mean it has to be in specific location. For us, its like we select where we live and company pays for it.

So I replied - "Mandilulur a simple visit to LULU can fix this.Get a Mozaic. ..."

What I meant was - It is not difficult to get cable, internet etc at all and Qtel has an outlet at LULU Hypermarket where you just need to go and fill up a form and they will provide you their service - Cable,Internet and Landphone for just 250 QR per month.

I hope this helps!

much the going rate for a one bedroom nowadyas anyways. So your company is not offering you anything better than the market. And I'am sure they will deduct your HRA. Dont let them take you for a ride. You should negotiate with them as ,in my opinion and knowing the market, they are looking at both of you joining together as some kind of 'package deal' and hence they are discounting your individual worth.

Ususally companies offering 'accomodation' do not pay you the HRA and I have found that it's always better to deny the 'company accomodation' and find a place yourself. It's much more convinient and economical.

Its always better to ask for accommodation rather than the allowance for it. Rents keep fluctuating.

No, it will not be enough. There needs to be only one sponsor making over 7000 base salary.

This is what I was thinking too... you need atleast 7000+ so you can sponsor your wife and kid

After Monday and Tuesday, even the calendar says W T F...

Hmm, I'm wondering who/how would you sponsor your child? The minimum base salary required to sponsor a wife/child is 7000. Thus you can see you are below minimums for a professional/family status.

Ask them to provide you a two bedroom accommodation instead of allowance, because…even though the rents are coming down...its difficult to find a 2 bed apartment for 3500.

Cost of living is high...for food.. a family of three you might need QR.2000/- and for your utility bills you need QR.500..and with little entertainments....you maybe able to save 3 or 4 thousand riyals.

What happens is…. after coming here... when you see the life style and salary of people from your country with similar qualification and experience... you might feel bad…

But then again it depends on what you are making in your country at the moment..

Try to negotiate…ask for min. seven thousand basic..

All the best:)

Thank you mr_qatar for your advice, i will consider this option...

But most of my questions are still without answers..

Please, if there is some expertise that can illustrate the actual situation up to date about costs, accomodations,...

I read in this site a lot of details about cost of living but there are a little bit old.

Thank you all once more

join it on 6 months contract.. if you feel that its good & you feel that your life is going smoothly then extend your contract but if you feel any problem then start search for better one..& resign from this after 6 months

Please can you give more details?

For example, what about accomodations offered by the companies at that price and how there differs from the normal ones?

maybe this offer is not enough for the standard but it can be enough to live decently and save something?

What's the cost of a normal living up to date?

I will be gratful if i can have more detailed opinions

thanks
