Who knows .. may be in the coming years they impose tax on salaries .. how do u all think they will build new houses (80,000) new buildings for the Mondial in 2022 ? + the cost of building new International staduims ? + the growth in the infrastrucure ?? i am afraid they will have in the near future to get us pay taxes on salaries

not everything...house rents are getting low nowadays...

best example is our flat rate, before it's 8,500 now it's 6,000...3 bedroom in al sadd with maintenance.

really everything here is sky rocketing up and it is about time to see the fares going up, and 4QR to have a car+driver come to you to drop you off within 1 kilometer away, Karwa is losing money or not making enough :), in the other hand who can walk outside in the afternoon or summer time. good luck guys and girls if any

Qatar is one of the best countries of the world regarding everything, there must be reason and compensation for the topic discussed. Thanks to ALLAH

nothing to get worry for those have their own transport, max of guyz here didn't travel by karwa including myself, & rest would not bother to hire after the hike in prices for sure :)

Karwaa is owned by Shiekha Moza who gets most of the money from the poor Indian drivers who are struggling to survive.

No wonder these drivers are most of the time miserable and down...And Moza is always smiling.

its still 4 riyals on flag down, now the minimum is 10 riyals if..your travel distance is near like when you take karwa and the meter is only 7 riyals because its near...you need to pay a minimum of 10 riyals....

Most drivers that I have spoken to during my hire, say they are not paid a fixed monthly salary, rather they have to deposit a certain amount with Karwa at the end of the day. Anything made over that amount is what they earn for the day.

If I remember it right, that amount was QR 260 before the fare hike. I guess this amount will go up as well, in which case the poor cab drivers will continue to struggle for a worthwhile earning.

whose main source of transportation was Karwa !!

Last month my cleaning boy told me the same, also it is a mandatory to purchase e-card for them. NO more cash.

This means the third world Countries are still far better...

that sux! at least KARWA should do before making a Fare increase is to check all their cars for "Meter Tampering". if they don't do this, will suffer more money to those karwa driver cheaters.

How could it come down when it (the salaries) didn't have an increase at all.

Oops...it did increase last year...50riyals and not as salary but sort of allowance. Total of QAR 1,250.00 plus commissions.

Last thing I heard (from the grapevines), there was a MASS RESIGNATION that recently happened.

Hope the karwa authorities use part of the increase in fares to send all of their drivers for re training and teach them to be polite and customer friendly instead of the drivers continuing with their habits from back home including eating beetle nuts and spitting from their vehicles, smoking inside the vehicles, chatting at the top of their voices to the front seat passenger in their own funny language while the other three passengers sitting behind have to put up with this #$*#&#*#%*% till the end of the trip
