Is anybody on the Forum living in Ezdan Towers?

If so, what are the facilities like (gym, satellite tv, internet, etc.)?

Oh and whatever you do.... do not eat in their restaurants. And the shop which is nice and convenient suffers from two annoying things; You will need to watch the expiry date on produce, and hardly anything is priced.

Seems like ETQ part of Ezdan Management/Marketing department. His first post in praise of Ezdan.

We did use Ezdan once for our guest (when they opened) - it was the last. There is obviously a reason why Bavaria didn't take the property. Location is good and price cheap but poor quality and it does not reflect the quality we expect to treat our guest.

As TB stated - its good for an interim period since the location is good and it is cheap. If you like it then you can continue to stay but i'd take a monthly contract - obviously worth a try.

I recently left Ezdan Towers after a one year stay there. The place is shabby and falling apart slowly. I would say it's a good place to use while you look for somewhere else, but in time you will feel like you are paying too much for a poor product. Don't sign up for one year! Pay month by month, it's a little more expensive that way, but I doubt if you will want to be there for a whole year.

I have never lived there but of the people I know that tried, none lasted more than four weeks. They all hated it. They said the facilities were good but that the rooms were terrible, the staff useless and the whole place physically stank.

Hi shtsh312,

I lived in Ezdan Towers (Tower 4) during the month of October 2011.

Staff:

The Staff is very friendly and helpfull. There is 24 hour reception, a 24 hour café where you can have anything from a breakfast to a pizza or a nice coffee or tea.

Room:

I was given a very decent fully air-conditioned room with a double bed and a decent bathroom. In the room I had a nice closet with plenty space to hang my clothes, a decent desk for my laptop (the room has wifi...don't forget to bring a computer cable to connect to the internet and maybe take some plastic cloth hangers for your clothes). I also had a little fridge in my closet plus a safe for my papers and valuables. My room did not come with a kitchenette since the monthly price for it was pretty high (at about 8500 QR per month). The monthly rate for my room was in total between 4500 - 4600 QR. I need to tell you though I did NOT use the phone to make calls outside Doha or outside Qatar (I recommend to buy yourself a cheap sim-card with a Qatari number or try to work with Skype). Just for the sake of convenience I bought myself a water cooker in the Carrefour Supermarket in the City Center Mall, which with taxi (called Kharwaa) is only a 10 Riyal drive away. I could make my coffee and tea and even prepared little meals (noodles) every now and then. The room will be cleaned every 2 or 3 days and these guys do a great job (room cleaned + bathroom cleaned + toilet paper and fresh towels + rubbish will be taken out).

Pool / Gym / Store / Restaurants etc.:

On the 4th floor of all Ezdan Towers (there are 4 of them) you will find the pool (very nice....entrance for guests is free and guests pay 50 QR a day) but also some restaurants, the excellent gym (also free for guests) and a very nice store. I did not eat in any of the restaurants since I was more interested in eating out to get to know more about Doha. In the store they offer all possible edible and drinkable things you can think of at reasonable prices.

Overall I was very happy to stay at Ezdan Towers. I had an excellent time and totally enjoyed my stay in Doha. If you do eat out in restaurants (plenty of choice and real good food for anything between 10 and 50 QR, unless real upmarket restaurants), remember that you are looking at taxi costs of around 50 QR a day depending to which area you want to go and how many taxi rides you need a day. You might come accross a few guys during your stay who offer their services to drive you around (not a taxi but private cars). If you can make a good deal with them your taxi costs might go down tremendously (aim at 15 QR per ride). Be aware of taxi drivers giving you all kinds of bs reasons why the meter shoud not be switched on --> just tell them that it is up to them....if they do not switch the meter on, when it comes to paying the fare, the ride is FREE (read the text on the sticker on the left or right of the back seat windows). Tips are not required for taxi rides!

Hope your stay is going to be awesome!

Have a great time!

Best regards,

ETQ
