maternity in Qatar
hi guys!
it's nice to be back on this site!
last night i had a phone call from a friend whose husband will be dispatched here in Qatar as a consultant for a print company. that company provides the accomodation for their family but my friend is a little hesitant to leave UK since she is now pregnant. as a single female, i really have no idea about the medical services here in Qatar especially for maternity concerns. can anyone please help give me an idea, if somebody ever actually delivered a baby in Qatar as to how is it here compared to UK or other countries?
tanx in advance!
Yeah I misread the post. I thought the person writing (who said she was single) was pregnant but she isn't it is her friend.
Sorry
what do u mean of unmarried super7? as i understanded, she has a husband and she can give birth here, even if her husband is not with her!
Being unmarried and prenant is illegal here*
but this is right :)
Not all receptionists are mean............I know, I was once one. Sometimes patients expectations are way too high! Give them a chance.
If she is a single woman and pregnant then I would definitely not adivse coming here until the child is born.
Being unmarried and prenant is illegal here
thank you butterfly and aisha, it would help my friend to feel at ease in coming over to Qatar. maybe i should do my own research and survey about medical services here, it's been quite a while since i got hospitalized in London. yeah, i agree that sometimes receptionists are way-off their bounds, feels like patients owe them something!
(apart from the mean, unfriendly receptionists!). Loool Butterfly you can't be more right!Sometimes I feel like they are blaming me for beeing ill!
Patricia, Tell your friend not to worry ,It will be fine.I know a friend from Holland who gave birth here and she did great( and that was YEARS ago, now things are even BETTER.)
Good luck
Hi Patricia,
Medical care is very good in Doha, especially antenatal care. I tried many private clinics in Doha and at the end I stayed with Hamad. I have no complains (apart from the mean, unfriendly receptionists!). Doctors and nurses are excellent.
Having tried the UK NHS (although not for maternity care) I must say that I prefer Qatar in the sense that installations seem cleaner and more modern.
She will be just fine giving birth in Doha. If she feels apprehensive about the public service (although she shouldn't!) she can try El Amadi Clinic or Doha Clinic.
A word of warning: stay away from the American Hospital.
