Hello... I would like to know how much would Western Union charge for me to send over around QAR 7,000. Is it safe to use this service for a larger amount?
if you sending QAR7000, you'll get to pay QAR60 riyals. Come to think of it, it maybe expensive but your family can get the money the same time(within 2-5 minutes) you send them the MTCN (Money Transfer Control Number) and the receiver has a valid ID.
I'm using WU to send my kids and mom...my only complaint is that I pay the transaction fee and my mom also needs to pay TAX or exchange rate fee...

Each country has its own Tax laws or charges on transactions. The remitter must be aware of such laws of that country before sending its money.
.
Anyhow, i have 2 objections at WESTER UNION which are:
.
1: "NO ONLINE MONEY TRANSFER SYSTEM" as they have it in U.S,UK and other countries too
2: Charges are quite high like remittance of any amount to PAKISTAN costs QAR:25/- [which I paid many months ago]
Overall, Western Union is very safe & efficient if one intends to sent & receive money instantly
Nothing to worry, go-ahead

We recently sent about Euros 200 to Ireland and we were charged QAR 100 as transaction fee.. but the receiver didn't have to pay anything!

I think it's about QAR 100 per transaction, not sure if it depends on the amount you're sending.
and charges depends onto which country you are sending.
