hi.. i have been offered a job in Doha, Qatar with a consolidated pay package of QAR 15,000/ month. Will be moving there with my family (w/ 2 kids). I would like to know if this is a good package and what is the average cost of living.

do let me know what is the price for housing and what are the good localities to search for a 2-BR house in and around Doha. Please give me some info on the schooling for Indian children. Thank you very much.

I think the best for you is come first alone to see how it looks like, and to get some experience in loco, only then make come your family.

Is realy expensive here, and you might have hard times with your family.

2 bed room flat will cost you around 6000 ~ 9000 QR / month, grocery average of QR 3500/= however it depends upon you, plus utilities bills around QR 500/ m. here in Qatar lot of good indian schools, in which MES offers good education in a reasonable price.

in a package of 15000/ m, you will hardly save any thing. good luck....

Salam brother,

I would say your package seems to be ok to start with. The average rent for a 2BR aparment range from 6000 to 8000QR depending on the location. Also, as you have two kids, the schooling fees will also needs to be budjeted. The rest of the expenses depends on your living style.

The location for housing depends on your office location as its better to stay as near as possible. The indian Schools available are MES Indian High School, Ideal Indian School, Birla Public School etc.. Also, i know about a pakistani school Shantiniketan...

Wishing you all the best in advance

It depends on your qualifications whether this offer is good or not.  To be able to live well according to western Standard, your offer is barely enough for the accomodation.

New 2 BR house/apartment would cost around QR 7,000 to QR 9000 i think these are f/furnished or semi-furnished. for the groceries, depending on you, but on average you'll spend QR 500 to QR 600 per week. plus your utilities water & electricity and the tuition fee of your kids. i would say for QR 15,000 package you wont save a thing.

there was a study before that for a family with 2 kids the minimum package should be around QR 19000 to 20000. hope this helps. goodluck ;)
