Hi .. Currently i am working in abu dhabi as a technical support engineer on not a very good salary. i have a offer from a qatar company for QR 8500 inclusive of everything. is this a offer i should take up? if yes , what are the things i should bear in mind before i accept the offer( things like what should be mentioned on my labour contract , etc)?

i need to move from this country for sometime as my current owner wont give me a NOC to move to another company and so the only option i have is to leave the country for some years and then come back. so since i have this offer i am considering this .

but i have heard that the labour law is not favourable to the employees there and you need the sponser to give you a exit permit to leave the country in any event.

please do rely asap as i dnt have much time to accept the offer .

i would like to have my family as well with me there . so plz let me know would i be able to survive with this salary ..

thanks in advance ... bless all

he just said it himself. He's not currently making a very good salary.

If this is a higher salary for you over all then it's a no brainer.

However, in general 8,500 is not that much if it doesn't at least include accomodation.

Accommodation is way cheaper in Qatar, all other expenses remain the same.

That is why it is nicer to live in Qatar because in Abu Dhabi, an ordinary room cost: Dhs. 4,500 (from an old building); 5,000 - 5,500 (from a well maintained building). He knows what I mean by an ordinary room...it is one room with other tenants in the same flat who are also using a common kitchen & a common toilet...if you have 6,000 - 7,000 budget for your accommodation you will be lucky enough to get a master bedroom, the only difference is that, you will have your own toilet but you still have to share a common kitchen with others...

Though, I also agree with what the rests are saying. If you can negotiate for an accommodation, of course it will surely make a big difference in your budgeting.

Of that 8500QAR, about 4000QAR will be spent for the cheapest family accommodation. Will need around 1500QAR for grocery, another 1000-1500 for transport/telephone/utilities etc. If you have children, Indian schools here would be atleast 500QAR per month.

Now do your calculations.

If you can, negotiate for furnished family accommodation, children's education and yearly vacation tickets for family.

I agree with RonCehl. I also worked in Dubai and came here to Qatar in 2009. For a middle class family and thinking of your current situation there in AUH. It is not bad.

Are you a slave? Do you think a Qatari owner will be better than an Emirati owner?

You have mentioned that you came from Abu Dhabi and so do we (my husband & I). Knowing the uncontrollable inflation rate of cost of living in Abu Dhabi, taking note also that you are not getting a good salary package from your current company, I think the amount you have mentioned sounds very appealing to you...what I have discovered, although, we are merely 2 months old in Doha, accommodation rent here is more than half (if not, at least half) of the rent in AUH...but since you are planning to bring your family here, you might really have to think about it but if your wife plans to work + taking into consideration living a simple life, I think, you can survive Qatar...and still live together with your family.
