With QR 50,000/month, and the need for a 4 bedroom villa (or similar) and 2 cars (or drivers), what kind of lifestyle/saving will be possible? We are new to the region and would want the best possible facilities, activities, for small children as well. Advice?
With 50K/month you should be able to stay in a good compound villa and sent up to 3 children to good schools in Doha. Even after that and car costs you should be able to save about QR 5000 per month.
This is a good salary and to my expectation, you can save more or less 20K/month eventhough you have got all your basic requirements like 4bed villa,2 car, schooling etc..
i can help you to find a good villa at 10.ooo qrs .only decide the location of school as to avoid daily trafic and also plenty of ativites for children available

4 Bed Villas in Beverly Hills Al Rayyan are avaialable for 18K per month - fully furnished. contact Al Asmakh, they have an ad in the Gulf Times everyday.
DESS is expensive but good and only caters for younf children of primary school age., they then have to move onto another school.
Doha College and Parkhouse are schools that go right through from primary to leaving school age, but you would be better in Ain Khalid gate compound or one that side of town as the traffic can be awful around those areas at school start and finish times - in fact most of the time.
I understand you want the best and the 4 bedroom villas in the compounds (where expats mostly live with security, pool, kids playgrounds etc) can stretch to 27000per month, but you should definitely see whether your employer can provide housing or at least arrange it for you. They have more bargaining power than individuals and i would only recommend gif you going it alone as a last resort because tenants have very little rights here in comparison to say the uk .
Can't advise on school costs other than to say the best places like Doha English speaking school have waiting lists so contact them now about place availability.
As for activities you could join a beach club for a place to go at the weekend, there are plenty of things for kids to do here if they like sport... Tennis, golf, sailing, wakeboarding, scuba etc
With that kind of salary it is usual for the employer to provide housing. A four bedroom villa will run you 15-20K. Schools are very expensive as well and usually paid for by the employer. Your salary should have an additional transportation allowance of at least 2000/mo. Don't forget the yearly air tickets for all members of the family.
