Did anybody noticed that the new speed trap camera(radar) installed few days ago at doha-al khor road? Is it already activated?

Torque: "What Corniche camera's?"

They are tall and black with a glass front. There's only 3 I know of. Coming from Airport, first one is after Museum roundabout near the fishing harbour, second is just after Emir's palace.

Coming other way it's just before the palace.

MTH, good answer

All, please remember that just cos a camera "looks old" doesn't mean it doesn't work. Always assume they are all in 100% working order. The outer box may look tatty, but that is only there to keep the weather and hooligans off the expensive innards.

Note: In Kuwait they hate speed cameras. Yes, hate is a strong word, but the locals there drive with shotguns in the car with the sole intention of peppering cameras. Don't believe me, go take a look for yourselves!

Funny things these Gatso/Radar/Speed traps, call them what you will as there really are many variations across the board. They were invented by Mr GATSO who was looking for an accurate system for measuring the speed of racing cars. Of course the Governments of the world realised they could make some money out of those of us who use the road, and let me tell you, the revenue collected by these contraptions runs in to the billions (no matter what currency you choose). The more they install the more money they will continue to make. Sounds very simple don’t you think? The more people who get caught speeding the more revenue collected. No need for a PHD here. Well, we can do something about it. We do in fact wield ALL the power when it comes to the humble Gatso....Try driving at the speed limit!! Who knows, more of us might even get home to see our families.

Drive carefully.

Yes, the Wakra to Messaid cameras work. Ask the Arse in the Cayenne that got flashed as he whizzed past me at 180 :o)
