Steep rise in Indian passport tariffs
By jobsforumbh •
The Indian embassy in Doha is to impose a huge increase in its consular tariffs starting from today. The issue of an ordinary fresh passport or reissue of passport containing 36 pages having a 10-year validity now costs QR274 as against QR185 earlier. For an ordinary fresh passport or reissue of 60-page passport with 10-year validity, the revised rate is QR369 as against QR225 earlier.

The passport prices have increased in all countries in the region. However, I think such a steep price hike is not justified. It doesnt mean much to me but for a person with a small salary, QAR 350 is a big amount.
.. and there is also talk of the goverment thinking of imposing a new tax on workers going abroad to work. They say it is to cover expenses incurred by the goverment to provide education, training, etc to this workers seeking jobs abroad and due to the brain drain
kumarmvt nobody stands in a line anymore and in half an hour you are in and out of the passport office. No need to go again & again & again.

Gather all peanuts and see if they would still be peanuts or will they collectively have the potency to hurt.
large share would go to service providers .. the citizens not the Govt.
369 bucks in 10 years is peanuts to pay...stop cribbing!
The present Govt of India has run out of ideas or places to loot... need to get money from everywhere to continue with it.
Back in India, the service has improved significantly. I don't mind paying extra if they can maintain that standard. As for Qatar, haven't applied for a passport here so can't comment on the service level.
Increased only in Qatar and nowhere else in GCC or other countries... Indian government always plans and thinks of imposing taxes, price hikes & so on...
Ministry of External Affairs has increased the prices in India. I think that is why the increase in Qatar as well
