Too Many Students, Not Enough Schools

With Qatar's booming population of 2.2 million, there is now a greater demand of private schools for children. Many parents in Qatar – both locals and expats – have hard times in enrolling their children due to the lack of spaces in private schools. However, His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani pledged to build 85 new schools by 2016 to accommodate more children in Qatar.

This video, which was created by journalism students in Northwestern University Qatar, talks more about this problem that many parents face.

it is an issue indeed it took my brother 5 month to find a school 4 schools did exams then they said its full we have no places (each exam 300 QAR u do the math) and the final decent school (newton) did an exam an kept him on waiting list for 4 month and thankfully he got in ...

Really its good subject you have been opened,,!! i have the same problem i try to register for my baby boy in Lebanese school for more than 3 years agoand every year no place and am living in doheel and my baby school in al-hilal,,, he should wake up at 5:00 am in the morning he's very tired and its not fair to do not have a seat for my baby in his country school...!!

Especially indians are affected. QCDD restriction only 40 student allowed in one class.

How could anyone have ever predicted that by rapidly increasing the number of expat workers in Qatar, that there would also need to be a commensurate rise in the number of school places...

Yeah, the country is not ready for this many people to live in it. Although one would fear it would end up like Dubai if it was over done..
