Traffic Dept may reduce violation fines

how to reduce cid violation 3000 there is im not over speed no bump anyone no red light cross im so upset please anyone know how to cid help me to reduce discount this my violation

getting a fine for setting the cruise control at 90 while driving on a 100 km/h street that suddenly turns to 80 km/h is too frustrating (Al-Wakra).

I think that reducing fines is not welcomed, adjusting and rethinking is better like for instance no points for speeding but 3 points for parking in the wrong place!!!

Ya even I doubt the competency of the traffic police, they just know to stick the stickers on the parking violations !!!

Points are allocated against the car, not the driver. So if you don't want the 14 points on your license, you can find (and pay, if needed) members of your household to take the blame for the violations.

Or you can get someone to wipe the fines and points for you, which would be even easier.

Or simply drive with no license.

If, as you say, there was strict implementation of the laws, and the traffic police actually checked cars and arrested people driving on suspended licenses, then perhaps things would change. I believe that in the UAE the traffic police are much more vigilant about such things. But in Qatar the traffic police seem to let speed cameras and red light cameras etc do all the work, which means that no one is hunting down cars with no insurance, drivers with no license, and dangerous drivers.

When the new system of violations was implemented a few years back, there was a noticeable change in the way people were driving. But sadly, the roads now seem more dangerous than I have ever seen them in my 5+ years in Qatar. It's reached the point where I no longer want to drive at all. And while its easy to blame the individual drivers for their horrible attitude on the road, ultimately I lay the blame on the traffic police for not doing their job in monitoring and enforcing the traffic law.

Fubar.. if they implement and be strict on the laws.. i guess the licence gets suspended when you exceed 14 points. Correct me if am wrong?

What difference will the points make? It's a simple enough task in Qatar to take your driver or maid or pretty much anyone with a license of their own in to the traffic dept and get the points moved to another license.

Or, if you know someone who knows someone, you can wipe the fine and points balance back to zero in a matter of minutes.

TB going through the Traffic lights in the UK the fine is still 60 quid but you get points on your license!

Now regarding the fines and point system in Qatar are a bit unfair, for example you can get fine and points for wrong parking but there are no points for speeding!

Totally remove the fines!!!.. triple the black points on the licence!!!! I bet you will see the change.

Excessive fines are just a way of compensating for lack of real enforcement. We need more police patrols monitoring and issuing fines for violations a traffic camera won't catch.

I somewhat agree to timebandit, its ruthless for a driver who's being paid only 500-700 Riyals monthly, and in any countries whether the fine is high or low, there is a proceedings for such acts which I feel missing here, instead of making it a high class choice to break the lights and killing weaker, they should enforce a fair and square judiciary which will decide whether he has to pay the full fine and/or was a genuine mistake and shouldn't be influenced by any means. This could be in cooperated with some extensive policies like the insurance will be high for such vehicles and/or drivers, resulting even though they break it they will face the consequences afterwards.

I am strongly against mad fines and I believe it will never do good to enforce the law.

yeah thank God its abt time....i hope they seriously reduce them even further coz seriously i dont get it why its so high, i need to get in a hurry and after all i own the asphalt.......and perhaps you whos in front of me...

reducing fines is a good move... with that they can now introduce stricter control of traffic with more road watchers to hunt the ugly drivers.

Fines alone don't work. At a certain amount of points one should lose his driver license. However, even that doesn't have any impact, because many drive without it anyway. Instead of fines I suggest imprisonment.

In the UK I think it's about £60 (QR 355) for speeding but you get points on your licence which increase (substantially) your insurance for the next 3 years. The increase in insurance is way more than the original fine.

I have no idea about fines in the UK for jumping a red light, but you are correct it would not be £1,000. However once again there would be points on your license and a hefty increase in your insurance again.

I feel that the fines here in Qatar are set about right. I don't think a reduction in fines is a good idea.

TB the fines in UK are way lower than this. Also in most counties they offer an alternative to picking up points by making people go on a speed awareness course, they could do with that here!!!

having huge fine for beating the red light is just right. i agree that a lot of drivers beat red lights in roundabouts without cameras. i dont care about huge fines as I do not overspeed and beat the red lights. i care for my family and others'. That's enough motivation for me to follow the rules.

to lessen the traffic violation fines will make crazy drivers out there to be more careless and danger to others.

All LC will jump, it is only few nationalities jump. Even if they jump where Cameras are there do you think they really pay penalties.

Yesterday morning I paid 500/-

A QR 6,000 fine for misjudging timings and accidentally just crossing the line at a set of red lights would be crippling for someone earning QR 2,000 and does seem excessive. That is until you take into consideration that to some QR 6,000 is only just becoming annoying enough to stop them jumping red lights whenever they feel like it. Any less and it just wouldn't deter them. Personally regardless of the fine, I would never jump a red light anyway, as I have too much regard for my own, and other peoples lives. Thus this fine is not required as a deterrent to me. But I have watched so many land cruisers jump lights at roundabouts where there are no cameras, that I realise anything less than QR 6,000 and these guys would quite happily jump lights anywhere cameras or not. And just to reiterate the point again, yes it is only land cruisers that I have seen jumping red lights, and no I have no idea what nationality was driving them at the time.

Speeding fines are most definitely sufficient to stop me from speeding where there are cameras. I have had to pay around 4 speeding fines in 3 years. And I deserved every one of them. I hated paying them because it is just such a waste of money to me. Any less and there is a possibility that I will not be so afraid of seeing a flash in my mirror. From memory the fine is set at about the same level as the UK, and in my opinion is good enough to achieve its desired result.

Why don't the police on the roads enforce the current rules rather than just standing there doing nothing at the roundabouts about from traffic control?

It makes me laugh!
