What is the cost of living, not just an average style of living but rather a decent one, for a couple in Doha?

I've been offered around 8K to 9K USD per month. I just wish to know as to how much I'd need for accommodation, travellin', regular shopping and all that kinda stuff and if 8K to 9K USD would be good enough for us. I wanna mention that me and my wife would be looking for a very good accommodation not just an average place and obviously the posher we'd look for the more expensive it would get but the question is, how much?

Mate it's in USD, I had spelled it out for you in my question, hadn't I? And yeah is it true that accommodation would be sorted in between 4000 to 5000 USD?

AT Plaza3804: I sure would have listened to you had I been paid the amount you are being paid for the work you do :-) With the salary I've I don't need to act on your advice. Thanks anyway :-)

By the way, I am just wondering why the blaze our Emir is tolerating intolerant people like some of you who suggested me not to come to Doha :-) Learn to live with differences if not then you cud ask Bush to make a place for you in the White House :-) just a suggestion.

I needed to know about the price as I had to tell my Company about it and I must say QL has been very helpful till now.

No hard feelings

Cheers

JF, I'm also quite new here & have found suitable accomodation in Ezdan as previously mentioned by others in answers to your question, but I have to say that I've found the people on this forum to be most helpful & sincere, Novita & Voyageress particularly so!!

I FOR ONE OBJECT TO YOUR ATTITUDE TOWARDS PEOPLE ONLY TRYING TO HELP YOU & YOUR SHARP REMARKS IN REPLY ARE UNWARRANTED!!

I'VE GOT A CARDBOARD BOX, LARGE SIZE, IDEAL FOR TWO PEOPLE, NO OFFICE, NO SPARE ROOM, GREAT VENTILATION , FLEXIBLE VIEWS.. WHICH YOU CAN HAVE FOR 1,000 USD A MONTH. OK???!!!

You will know doubt regard my remarks as facecious, however you have offended by your tone, let alone brusque manner.

If you really want help, don't be rude to people!!

Spleen vented...

Either change your tone or go somewhere else for advice, as your attitude stinks.

Better still, don't come to Doha!

JT, with your attitude I don't think you'll go far here in Doha. Why ask your question at all if it transpires that the company are paying for your accommodation? What a waste of time for people like Novita and others trying to help you. Or do you enjoy stirring up trouble and being so rude and aggressive to people?!

At Voyageress

That's what you 'THINK' and that's what you might be looking for yourself, a three bedroom villa with the intention of making one an office for yourself and a spare room for your guests, but as I mentioned earlier on that I don't need a three bedroom villa so I would appreciate if you’d stop shoving it down my throat. If you are willing to reply to MY query then do so but please don't pattern my query according to your needs.

Many thanks

PS. My Company would pay for the accommodation.

Given the info you provided, JF, I think that Novita answered your question very well. Anyway, a couple might well want a three bedroomed villa in order to have a spare room for visitors and to use another room as an office, so actually was a very sensible answer in my opinion. As far as rents are concerned, if you're looking for "decent" accommodation then there's little available for less than 20,000 QRS per month (payable three months in advance). Al Fardan Towers still have some very nice furnished accommodation available in this price range and higher. The salary doesn't sound adequate.

What the blaze! They seem to have no website for Beverly Hill Apartments? How insane! Do you have any idea as to how much they charge for a one bedroom apartment? I've been trying like hell since ages but nothing seems to come up on google and other search engines.

@novita77

It's not dat I was annoyed or something but I just wanted to let you guys know that I need an accommodation for a couple so even a villa wid two bedrooms wud be kinda big for us let alone three, I hope you are getting my point. Plus, I didn't say that I'm looking for a flat ONLY, I could go for any accommodation as long as it's suited for a couple like it shouldn't be too big or too small, that's all I wished to say :-)

Anyways, thanks a lot for mentioning the areas I really appreciate that.

You ask half a question then get annoyed when people try to be helpful

JF ... if you want to go for 'posh flat', check west bay area. Beverly Hills tower, al fardan towers, Ezdan towers all considered upper class appartment / flat.

You are most welcome.

Eeeew .... JF calm down. Why wouldnt a couple opt for a villa? your question never actually indicated that you 'looking for a flat only'.

Forgive me if my answer annoyed you.

Why would a couple opt for a three bedroom villa?! Please be precise when you're replying.

To y'all out there, which areas are considered brilliant for renting out a quality property?

Many thanks.

Try to use the search function on the top right hand side. What you been asking have been discussed many times before. For 3 bedroom villa not in the compound be prepare to pay min QR 15.000 and up.

the average rent for a good flat with parking and pool, gym etc...will be arround 11 to 15k QR.

thats between 3500 to 4500 USD a month. maybe a bit more if it's a super delux finishing.

but you can have a very relaxed life if 9k US a month.
