What's the deal with cars older than 3 years?
Hi eveyone on QL,
So I'm due to arrive in Doha 7 May, and I am really looking forward to it. I have a question for everyone that I have not seen addressed before on these forums:
I understand that you can only get full coverage insurance on cars for the first 3 years, but what is the deal with all of these older cars in the classifieds talking about "inspection good thru 10/08" or "registered through May 2008" - I'm assuming there must be some kind of Government inspection for older vehicles, but what does it entail? Is it easy to pass? Is it an overall safety evaluation, or does it focus on smog/emissions? What if you buy a used car and it doesn't pass it's next inspection? Do you get another chance to pass, or do they seize your car?
Let me know!
Oh, and THANK YOU to all who respond in advance!!
