I would also like to buy a pepper spray here in qatar. I was adviced by my brother to have one for self defense. just this morning when I was waiting for my carlift, there were 4 male students, about 14 to 17 years of age, walked along my back side. one of this male wearing the arabic white dress/tobe with a chechered red and white turban on head, touched my butt! i fought back his arms in a hastily and rude manner and walked away from them. they just walked as if nothing happened. what a hell are they doing with ladies here?! it sucks!

My wife is working in a hotel and on shifting schedule. Sometimes she's going home as late as 11pm and I weren't able to pick her coz we've got a conflict of schedule. Anyways, I know it's not that dangerous here but I don't want to take the risk. Besides, prevention is better than cure isn't it?
By the way, I have seen one military-like shop in City Center (I've seen knives, military gear).. Saurabh7, perhaps we'll try to look there.. ^_^

Contact the Police first to find out if it is legal to carry it. In the UK, most "self defence" sprays carry the same penalty as carrying a firearm. If it not legal, best not to get it. I appreciate that some people have had bad experiences here but mainly they have been unwanted attention rather than actual physical attacks and even when they have been physical it is usually someone groping in which case the best thing to do is take a picture with your phone and call the Police.
