I noticed that 600V/1000V cable is described as MV and 66kV cable is described as EHV for some occasion in tender documents (Drawings & BoQs) in Qatar. Would anyone tell me about the classification of LV/MV/HV/EHV in Qatar Electric industry giving that I am not an electrician?

(i) Extra High Voltage (EHV) Apparatus – Any apparatus,
equipment and conductors which are normally operated at a
voltage above 132kV. (EHV > 132kV)
(ii) High Voltage (HV) Apparatus – Any apparatus, equipment
and conductors which are normally operated at a voltage
above 33kV and below or equal to 132kV. (33kV < HV ≤ 132kV)
(iii) Medium Voltage (MV) Apparatus – Any apparatus, equipment
and conductors which are normally operated at a voltage
above or equal to 1kV and below or equal to 33kV.(1kV ≤ MV
≤ 33kV)
(iv) Low Voltage (LV) Apparatus – Any apparatus, equipment and
conductors which are normally operated at a voltage above or
equal to 25V and below 1kV (25V ≤ LV < 1kV)
(v) Extra Low Voltage (ELV) Apparatus – Any apparatus,
equipment and conductors which are normally operated at a
voltage below 25V (ELV < 25V).
Thanks bawagar for your prompt response. Many codes in practice classify the Voltage in different way.
See this web link: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/High_voltage
I don't know how we rated ELV (Extra Low Voltage) in Qatar.
Hi shajitomy, I put it because I look forward simple answer.
I still think my answer is the best and most elaborative. I have found these limits in KAHRAMAA's standard Manuals & Specifications.
All voltages shall be selected are as per IEC-60038
So I guess the LV MV HV and EHV shall be followed as per IEC.
Declared Voltage For The State Of Qatar :
Rated Voltage : 240 / 415 ± 6 %, 3 Phase, 4 Wire.
Neutral : Solidly Earthed.
Fault Level : 31 MVA At 415 V.
See.. to know this classification, u dont need to be an Electrician or Electircal Engineer...
Read any Catalogue/profile of Electrical product manufcturing copanies..!!
U will get that..
ha..ha.a
I just give full form only for these short words I dont know what he wanted to know
YoungEng, I hope U got yr answer now.
As per KAHRAMAA Standards & Specifications:-
LV - Voltages not exceeding 250 Volts
MV - Voltages between 250 & 1000 Volts
HV - Voltages exceeding 1000 Volts (1 kV) up to 66kV.
EHV - Voltages above 66kV
I trust it will help you.
He asked for classification not its full form.
Wrong Answer Biju.
I will give the correct answer now.
