My wife and I are moving to Qatar in a few months and we are hoping to bring our dog with us. We will need to rent some accommodation. Does anyone know if landlords generally allow dogs in villas? Also, do the vilas generally have fenced private courtyards?
Hi, I am actually in your exact situation. So far I have been told that dogs are allowed in most villas by the landlords, but the obvious rules apply. They must be kept on a leash when outdoors and you must pick up any mess they make.
There are Villas with fences back yards, but you really need to spend time finding the right one for you. Plus I would take care in locating a house that cannot be accessed from outside. Let me explain. Purebred dogs have been known to get stolen, and then used either for illicit breeding or for dog fighting. So take that into account when you select your house.
Good Luck.
PS. Just remember that here it is difficult to import certain breeds of dogs. Get in touch with the vets in Doha or http://www.qatarpetrelocators.com/index2.php
