Advice on an area of Doha
By Tyler Durden •
Hi,
I'm coming to Doha in August and have been told my accommodation is near Ras abu Abboud Street round about. It looks really close to the airport- will it be very noisey???
Does anyone know what this area's like?
Are there plenty of shops etc.?
Also how long would it take me to get from there to the west bay area by car in the morning at about 6.30?
Cheers in advance for your help.
Well described indeed !:)
is a very busy area of town. Airport noise will be minimal. It will be traffic/construction noise that would be a concern. They are tearing down buildings in that area and starting from scratch all over the place as they are building a new freeway intersectionfor the New Doha International Airport right where ras bu aboud connects with the corniche. You would be a little ways away from that, but possibly still affected. Lots of shops and places to eat nearby. Souqs are not far either. Unfortunately in the summer it is too hot (dangerously hot) to walk anywhere. I live in Westbay and often visit a friend near the airport. It takes me about 45 minutes driving in the morning (7-8am) to travel the distance.
the all areas of qatar is noise proof but not hot proof
if you travel before 5 am maybe, be careful of the traffic cameras.
I live there. Noisy it ain't!
You hear the occasional miltary jet, but regular stuff is cut out by the double glazing.
You are probably in the block with other teachers which is further from the runway than I am!!!
10 mins to West Bay
Supermarket on the roundabout and all manner of fast food outlets no more than 5 minutes walk.
If it's that near the airport than construction noise is the least of your worries!
Yes, there is construction site there, but it is not that noisy, unless your accomodation is on the R/A itself.
it will take you around 10 - 15 mintues to reach west bay area
yes it would be noisy, there is very big construction around that area.
