I had a Nissan Pathfinder, old model from 2002.

I ran it for 250000kms in two and a half years and it was 100% reliable. Also reasonable costs for servicing. This car was good in the dunes and we went many times to the inland sea.

You can pick a good one up for about QR45000. Definitly recommend it.

You could just eat another pie

I agree with most of the posts... Toyota RAV4, Prado, or Land Cruiser... good resale value, cheaper spare parts, good car, good service, and gasoline efficient.

Hi, will you be ok to share your experience on second-hand car buying? I'm coming soon to Doha, and after reading about the driving conditions and traffic there I'm not keen to have for my first car a brand new one. Ideally, a 3-4 yr old car in excellent or very good condition with no accidents. Is it hard to find?

we were told when we bought our second hand truck that you can't have collision insurance, etc if it is more than 3 years old. can only get liability insurance for it. on the flipside it was pretty cheap for 7 passengers.

we bought second hand without needing a loan. heard from friends who bought new and got a loan that it was a bizarre experience. interest is technically against islam, so the bank probably has a profit rate instead. as well, if the rate would be 10% (as an example), the 1st year it's ten percent, the second year it's 10% of the original loan, not on the amount of loan thats left, the third year, same as the second and so on.

if you buy second hand, be careful as it may have been in an accident or two. best to buy second hand from someone you know or can trust. we bought a big 4x4 so we could be a bit higher up and safer - drivers here are nuts - and it's not just the locals who drive fast and / or poorly. rare that you don't have a close call on a trip around town. yesterday i had no where to go because of the traffic at a roundabout - didn't stop the dump truck driver from honking and flashing his lights at me.

If you'd like a real and not that expensive 4X4 - go for Toyota Prado. Best resale. Everything else is scrap.

What about interest rates in Qatar?I am not there as yet , so pls forgive me for asking basic questions like these.

What is the interest rate for a cars in Qatar?

Also heard that second hand cars do not come with the insurance option. Is that correct?

honda CRV and Xtrail both are good 4WD and the resale value of both is good, i dont know much about sujuki

new car cost will be too high, if second hand available of previous model in some reduced rate . so it iwll be good also. anyway i am going to buy X-trail

CRV is a nice car but spare parts are bit overpriced here, service is good; Suzuki is good but i'd say it depreciates more that Honda, Nissan X-Trail is gr8 car, very good price and speare parts are not expensive, service is good.

Being a car maniac myself, I'd go for the Nissan.

If you're looking for a problem, you're probably gonna find one.
