Any Indians in Doha???

kunalk1
By kunalk1

Hi Guys...My name is Kunal & I have recently joined Qatar Living. I will soon be shifting from Abu Dhabi to Doha and joining a big real estate group here. I would like to know whether there are any Social & cultural groups for Indians like the Indian Social Centre of UAE? Secondly, are there any good Indian chain of restaurants like Moti Mahal, Delhi Darbar etc...??? And lastly, are there any Hindi movies played in Doha theatres?

Just take one look at the driving habits in Qatar and you'll see that there are thousands and thousands of Indians here. The driving habits of Indian cities has made driving in Qatar reckless and dangerous. I seriously wish that the government would address this problem more.

If you go downtown on a Friday afternoon you will see thousands of Indian men gathering together on their one day off. Electricity Street and that sort of area is a popular meeting point.

Hi Friends..!!

Let me give some details to my friends who was Aliens just before this discussion started about Indians in Qatar, yes I am right they all who don’t recognise Indians and their contribution towards this nations developments, they all were Aliens staying somewhere outside of this planet. You all will be amaze to know that till 70's there was Indian currency was here as recognised trading currency..also all top most companies here in Qatar have majority of skilled Indians who give this nation a fantastic future and still all this Indian nationals are still dedicated and not commenting on other nationalities because all this Indians are well Educated and have good sense and they all are Humans...!!!

That is the biggest joke of the century.. Are there are any Indians in Qatar? Well my dear, there is hardly anyone else other than Indians< I mean the majority of expats are from India espectially from Kerela. I have been in Qatar since 1979 and the first Hindi movie that I had seen in the cinema was Karz I think or maybe yeh waada raha back in the early 80's. There are 5 or 6 cinemas here in Qatar which are showing Indian movies that is hindi and other regional ones like malayalam, tamil etc. As far as restaurants are concerned, I am afraid there aren't any good ones here, I mean compared to what you have there in the UAE or what we have back home still it is not so bad. Next to English, Hindi is the official language here.. Actually come to think of it is malayalam.

Any elephants in Africa ?

Any Kangaroos in Australia ??

Instead of Indian Social Center,, mostly here Indians are divided on their "linguistic" basis. Each of the states has their own cultural clubs, sometime they are also formed in religious basis, and also in district / local bodies level.Ha Ha

There are no Restra in the type of Motimahal or Saravanabhavan or Delhi Darbar...The most hyped one is GARDEN..but is it a good one ??..... better you try for Indianised fast food like ASIANA, CARAVAN etc..

Hindi films ? ( 90% of hindi films are made ASSES for MASSES )

a quote from Cricketer Gavaskar....But you feel Hindi films are as good as Hollywood Classics,,, still you wil not be disappointed. There are 2-3 theatres but the shows are 8-11 pm

Welcome to Doha..

I am also new here. I came here just a month ago.

I am not sure about the social/cultural groups but the movies, you get to see them here. There are a quite a few restaurants and I am not sure there is any chain as such.
