Are Radar Detectors allowed in Qatar?

I have a Valentine radar detector and I would love to use it here in Qatar but I need to know if it's allowed here. Please let me know if I should bring it with me. Thanks! Also, do they sell radar detectors here? That would make me feel more comfortable knowing that the country allows it.

I dont know if it's illegal, but road angel (one of the most popular ones that has many different sensors) doesn't work in Qatar. Qatar uses a different system.

Oh especially the new corniche ones, those are state of the art.

if u need a licence just to use the walkie talkie which in many countries, do not need that.

u might like to think twice.

if you cannot take it, leave it !!

Radar detectors used by motorists are illegal, even in the US and subject to prosecution. Just coz you were able to beat the cop on the I-10 doesn't mean you can successfully use it in Qatar. Should return it to the crooked Radio Shack guy, along with the receipt LostsomewhereinDoha... and oh hey get a Doha map from any local library if you are still lost ;)

When driving my 4WD, it is too easy to unintentionally speed. I just don't notice as the speed slips up from 80 to 100 to 120. Before I know it, I'm caught by photo radar. I have to really put an effort into not speeding -- by watching the speedometer or having my wife remind me every minute ("You're speeding...slow down!")

In contrast, in my little Beetle, I notice the speed more easily. I can easily keep the speed betwen 60 and 80 without problems.

i don't intentionally speed but there are times that you get leadfoot and it's good to have a warning so that you slow down.

My uncle got a radar detector back in 1997, its not that useful, there were false alarms more than the real ones.

It's always the small things that make big differences.

but remember, I bought this in the states and it's still there in my home in america. I want to know if I can bring it to Qatar instead of it collecting dust over there.

thanks for the reply. In the u.s., we have the same system but they allow radar detectors too.. if you think about it, it makes them freak out and slow down more since even if is a false alarm, they still have to slow down to avoid a possible ticket.

i think that defeat the object putting speed camera if they allow people having a radar detector on their car. None of these landcruisers will get any speeding fine.

one of my husband work friend, said radar detector is illegal. If you caught using it or installed it in your car, you will faced big penalty.
