Best Area to Live

Is there an area - or perhaps several areas - in Doha that are considered by many people to be the best in which to live?

This is not just about renting houses/apartments. I am thinking perhaps one or more areas in Doha will have a combination of the most interesting malls, cafes, clubs, and scenary for relaxing. And usually one area in a city has the best atmosphere - an easy-going feeling. In some cities this area will be near a university, a good mall, or perhaps an area for artists and handicrafters.

For reference, I found a good interactive map of Doha's areas at <http://europe.mapquest.com/maps/map.adp?country=qa&city=Doha>. Thanks.

I'm also living in Al Saad and after 2 weeks my impression is that it really seems central to everything... bookstore, cafe's, MegaMart, etc... definitely a decent area to live in!

I vote for Al Sadd as I live in Al Sadd. hehehe.. is the best area in town. Close to everywhere as strategically in the middle of Doha city. Near to Hamad hospital/doha Clinic, near to megamart/giant, ramada signals for all restaurants and caffees, banks, al nasser street for all little shops.. ladies salons, tailor, cinema in Royal Plaza.

Everybody is right Everybody is wrong, it depend where we stand.

Deedee, an apartment is being provided in company housing. I don't yet know where that apartment is, though.

I was hoping to learn where a good area would be to relax and entertain oneself during evenings and on off days. Then I hoped the apartment would be close to that area. I agree with you; I'm not keen to be stuck in traffic for several hours each day.

is "the best area" to live in my opinion.   Traffic here is horrible so you want to be close to those places or you will waste a lot of your day stuck in jams.

Old airport--close to airport/ good shopping  but horrible traffic at all times of the day

Al Sadd-- middle of town/ good shopping, but again bad traffic jams

Are you looking for a happening part of town, or peace and quiet?   your "best area"  depends a lot on what you are looking for.

I'm checking out that Wikimap now. It's a great map but doesn't work so well on a slow internet connection.

By chance, does anyone here know where (in Doha?) the Fluor Corporation has its apartment complex? Thxs.

Can you give me some map directions to the Old Airport Area? It doesn't appear on the Mapquest map I mentioned. Also, is the old airport still there? If yes, can you enter - walk in - the area? Thanks, again.

Old airport is the best area to live in. It has everything except for a petrol

station lol. We have the airport next to us (how cool is that), a mall,

2 shopping centers FFC and LuLu, cinemas whatever u need is probably

in the Old Aiport Area.

It's always the small things that make big differences.
