The local Garmin GPS should come with the local maps unless it is coming from gray market.
I am using an old one but it's getting me where I want dispute the fact that still there are some traffic light still appearing a roundabout !!!!
I just seen one at LULU it cost around QR 1,300 and the best thing about it that I most like it is coming with a life time update to the Mapz so when ever there is un update you will have it free.

Do the Garmin GPS units at places like Carrefour come with the right maps for this area, or do I have to buy them separately? Thanks.
navigon software on the iphone is working perfectly fine for me in qatar.
it does not have all the new places in it however you may do a google serch for the placeand then save its co ordinates.....for me,handling a separate GPS device is cumbersome......best of luck in your search...

The maps do need a little updating but other than that it's definitely worth the money. It has global maps so you can take it anywhere (I've been to Saudi Arabia, Doha, and the US with it and it's worked great in all of those places!). Good luck :)
Hi tony,did you manage to buy a garmin devie?i have the nuvi 205 wide and it's working beautifuly in lebanon.you think i could take it with me and just buy maps, or should i buy one over there ?
