Thank you for this very interesting and reliable post. Every now and then, some people will notice an article on some website someplace about a “rent-or-buy” showdown. Usually, it's a crock of manure, as much of the press appears to have been bought off by the financial industry, but from time to time, somebody gets it correct. If you need help paying your rent this month, you can get an installment loan.

i got the image as a whole ,so i will go with the renting thing in doha coz even in 6 months i didnt like the system in doha i would leave to qatar so no need to put loan on me for 5 years right?

my advice for buying or renting is first consider how long are you going to work here in qatar, if you are going to stay here lets say more than 5 years i think its better to buy a new car thru loan. .if only short term lets say 2 years its better to rent or you can also buy and just transfer the loan. .

Buying is always better you will end up paying the installment for a car that is yours and you can sell it later instead of paying the same amount for rent.

Best option in my opinion is to find a 2 years old car in decent shape. Or you can buy a new one and fix your installment as per your budget. Usually it is better to pay down payment to easy the installement.

You cannot buy a car under your name without obtaining ikama first.

If you arrive on business visit visa you can drive with international license. That case you will rent.

If you issue ikama you must do the test for the Qatari license and issue one.

about the driving style in lebanon. If it is left handed you shouldnt have much problems. You can come here and apply for a short classes or a refresher course and take up the driving test (you can take a test without classes also).

regarding you query about buying or renting a car, its personally your choice. A decent car (tiida or corolla) costs anywhere between 1900-2300 QR a month on rent basis. There are lot of good old cars also available.

Car loans are not too dufficuilt to get. for old cars i dont think they give loans to cars which is older than 4 years.

hope that helps.
