Cat in cabin

I might be coming to Qatar next week. WooWoo!

I've read a lot of post about bringing one's pet to qatar, but I'm a little confused. This post is for someone who has taken their cat with them on the airplane. What do you do when the poor thing needs to go to the toilet? I got a small cat and would prefer to keep her in my sight--I don't want to use a relocation agent. Can anyone who has brought their cat with them in the plane cabin enlighten me on how their trip went (Did you drug the beastie? Did other passengers give you a hard time? General cost you paid...etc.)

Thanks!

Boonie: I think that is a wise choice leaving her in good hands until you will return.

new2qatar: If your dog has a good home in Austria, I would suggest you do the same thing, leave your pet there. If like me, you had no choice but to bring them, then get in touch with qatar pet relocators. With all the new regulations and the fact that now, all pets must go in and out as cargo it just safer to be in the hands of people that have experience with cargo.

Have a look at my website too for additional info:

Hey everyone--

Thanks for all the input. Desert Queen, your webpage was chock full of good info--very cool. I'll only be in Qatar for less than a year, so I've been thinking that it might be best just to leave her with her grandma and gramps. I've had too many lost luggage incidents that I really don't like the thought of her hanging out in cargo.

I`m sorry to tell you but all animals (except falcons) have to enter /exit the country via Cargo....

read the article about this topic at the QL pets/animals group....

btw its not so difficult to do all the paperwork yourself....

I just arrived back in Doha in April from the UAe with 4 dogs and 1 cat...and did all the work that needs to be done myself.....

If you need some information....send me a PM....;)

As per the new regulation this is not possible anymore. Check the

QL pets&animals group site. I had posted the new regulation there when it can into effect (01august 2007). Aisha-Taweela

LOL. I might as well have asked if the plane was muslim.

I hardly got passed the fact that you flew your cat! hahaha I used to fly a broomstick until I discovered British Airways.

I'm not a 100% sure of this, but I think the laws changed so that animals can no longer come in the cabin and must fly cargo. I flew my cat twice, from Korea to Canada and Canada to here. The first time I drugged her and it was pretty pointless as I think it made her more nervous, the second time I didn't bother and the handlers said she was excellent. I just put newspapers and a bit of litter in the bottom of the carrier, but I found she didn't use it on either flight.
