Compound Villas
Hi
I will be moving out to Qatar and working at the airport
I would like some advice on renting a villa.
My wife doesn't drive and so it would be great if we stayed at a compound with basic shopping available.
Do the compounds generally have a shop for basics?
and could you suggest any, my allowance will be approx 12000QR per month.
One last thing, is it best to go through an estate agent for renting or is doing a deal privately OK.
Thanks
Steve
Hi, I'm Craig, M.D. of Mirage properties, a well established Real Estate company here in Doha.
We have a whole range of properties available for lease throughout Doha. We offer both our own and other landlords properties, so please take a look at our website mirageproperty.com for an overview of what's available. Once you've had a look just contact us through the site and we'll get in touch to try and get you housed.
Your budget should find you a compound villa, however not many of the compounds here have on site shops, so a compound close to a mall would be a good option for your wife.
I hope that helps but if you need further info please feel free to contact me.
Kind regards
Craig at Mirage
Steve, do you REALLY need a compound villa?
If it's just you and your wife there are some good apartments where I live - Al Emadi Suites (Google it) they are 2 bed, huge place, Fully furnished for 11k including services and the price is dropping all the time. There are all kinds of shops right on the door step!
Even better, I'll be vacating in April as I recently changed jobs - you can jump in quick and get mine :o)
Thanks Hislam and Salahkazi, it was good of you to take the time to reply and make such good points.
I bet you are right about the 2022 construction projects and the effect on rentals, wish I had the odd 2 million QRs to buy something, it would be a gold mine to rent out!
The airport area is having all ranges of compounds. However, for a good one it will exceed the 12,000 a little bit.
If it's OK with you you can go 10 odd km south to Wakra for better and cheaper choices.
The Agents days are history.
We've been through a couple of years where you won't be able to find accomodation for yourself.
Now-a-days, thanks God, you can easily hover in the area you desire and the "For Rent" signs will be every where. Just speed up. No one knows when we'll be hit again by the flow of contractors for 2022 projects.
If you haven't checked the classifieds section, browse through http://www.qatarliving.com/classifieds/accommodation?filter1=All&tid_1=All&field_cl_furniture_value_many_to_one=All&field_cl_bedrooms_value_many_to_one=All&field_price_value[min]=7500&field_price_value[max]=12000 to get a first hand idea about the rent, facilities etc.
Will the company arrange for your temporary accommodation for the first few weeks. It would be highly recommended that you come down here and actually visit some of the villa compounds and then pick one. Good luck.
Thanks for responding so quickly Isobel and Arien, I appreciate your comments
Steve if u wana be in the close proximity and within some 10 to 15 min drive to the airport, the right area for you would be Hilal.
If you are planning to comedown and hunt for it, you can either go thru an agent or you can do it urself. You will get a decent 2 or 3 bed villa with amenities like pool n gym for 12k.
It depends on the Villa and the compound but that is a reasonable chunk of money, so you should get something. Some compounds do have shops although not to up on compounds near the airport.
I would use an Estate Agent if I were you as you can get ripped off.
Good luck and welcome to Qatar.
