Do I need a police report to get a new windshield?
By Mr Weetabix •
I've got a cracked windshield on my Nativa - need to get it fixed so I can get the Istimara renewed. The crack just appeared - I think it might be a result of a fault in the glass or the installation. Anyhow, Mitsubishi won't do the work unless I have a police report, which seems like a waste of time (both for me and the cops), and they're expensive.
Is there anywhere where I can (legally) get the windshield replaced without having to get the report? Preferably somewhere cheaper and quicker than the Mitsi workshop...
Yes. Windshield is considered as accident.
And if your car fully insured you may change it on insurance.
Or If third party, you can change it on the other car which was the cause ( flying stone from other car in front )
Or you can repair ( heat treatment ) depending on the damage .go toTEYSEERpetrol station at Qatar decoration round about . They have shop who does repairs on the same windshield
Best regards.
SWAT Trading in Industrial Area. They'll fix while you wait. 44500061. Cheaper & No papers :-) .
@kshivu83: I suggest you read the question before accusing the poster of laziness. To clarify:
1. Is it a legal requirement to get a police report, even if there has been no accident? As I said, I suspect that the crack is the result of a defect, as there has been no collision and there is no sign of a chip on the windshield.
2. If it is not a legal requirement (simply Mitsubishi policy, perhaps), are there other garages who can fit a Mitsubishi windshield, preferably for less than the 2000QR+ quoted by Mitsi?
In answer to your question regarding why I think that this is a waste of time: I see no benefit in burdening the police with requests from reports when there has been no accident or crime. I would rather see the traffic police enforcing the law than processing worthless paperwork. I also do not want to take time off work so that I can spend hours waiting in a police station for a piece of paper.
Sorry to bother you but just wondering what makes you to think that it will be costly to get a report from the police and it will be a waste of time. If you are so lazy to go to the police that that is understandable. People are there to help you out with legal terms you just have to go there and the work will be done in a minute. Moreover for personal accidents like this the report is free. Try getting it and do the repairs in the showroom itself as it is always safer. Don't try to go to the mechanic shops if you don't know anyone there. They will fix the windshield properly but your spareparts inside the vehicle may not be original. Rest is your decision.
try the garages in industrial area and teyseer in salwa road they used to to repair if the crack is small, check with them
