Dr Who
Sorry that this looked like it was going to be an exciting post..
My little ones (and I, to a lesser extent) are addicted to Dr Who. Does a digital freeview box work over there? Should I bring it? Would we have the same access to channels that we do in the UK?
I realise that you can get access to Sky etc, but had that over here and never really used it. Surfing is the only sport I try to follow- intermittently- and I felt that Sky was a waste. Happy with music and news and BBC.. oh, and Film 4.
Am also thinking that Dr Who on a Saturday is paramount in keeping up some sort of normality with my kids.. especially those first bumpy weeks..
This is very long winded- am thinking aloud!
A. Does Freeview work?
B. If it doesn't, can we get access to Dr Who and Film 4?
C. Is a whole new forum subject:)
Thanks QL folks. (Again) :)
I've been overdosing on watching Dr Who the past few weeks as I thought I wouldn't be able to watch it in Qatar. What will I do without him? Sighs.
Job no. 251: cancel tv license:)
i heard the thinking behind the iplayer being uk restricted was because only uk citizens are paying the licence fee. When in Germany, the German freeview box picked up uk channels - it was great watching match of the day on a saturday night (ah, the simple treasures of UK living...:)
How happy am I?! Now I'll never have to come back to the UK.. lol.. when I eventually arrive...:)
the bbc iplayer would not work outside the uk, however, they are planning on releasing an international version sometime in the future but the likes of dr who and that may still be shown a little bit later than the uk though.
Thanks alot for that. I'll let you know when we get there. That's really kind.. thank you:)
...and every other BBC primetimes other than just...Charles Dickens movies only I like...
I'm stuck with Hallmark...

I am told by my very knowledgeable (addicted) husband that there is a small selection of DVDs that can be found at Virgin in Villagio Mall. If there is something in particular you are looking for we will probably have it, I believe you can send me a message through my profile.
Ok.. we'll just have to abstain until we get set up..Or- maybe someone who has it will record it for them. I'm sure they'll live!
Thanks again:)
It's a UK service only. You will be unable to access iplayer outside the UK.
Hi Fran, unfortunately I don't think you can iPlayer from outside of the UK, but Showtime are showing it as Paul R said, or you could resort to being naughty and download it or something.
At least that's one less thing to carry. I guess we'll iplayer it or watch some oldies til we get sat. Thanks for the info..
What's eating Da Ru De this morning?? Damn the DOC?! Are you INSANE?! ;P
BBC Prime show Dr Who but they are way, way behind.
All programmes on that channel are repeats, repeats and more repeats.
Not just repeats from the UK but repeated over and over again. Some are on their 8th showing in 30 months.
where is every one today no one online still :?

Hi,
You'll find the freeview box doesn't work here. Take a look at Showtime of Orbit for western sat packages.
Showtimr has just shown a Dr Who season that ended just before the Titanic Christmas special. The only way of getting more up to date episodes is to find them on the internet, not that I endorse any illegal activities.
