Drive from Dubai to Doha

Not sure which topic this should be under to it's under two. Apologies if this disrupts anyones chi.

Hi

Has anyone done the drive from Dubai to Doha. Basically, I'm re-locating to Doha. however i cannot officially re-locate with car until my visa is sorted out as my car is under finance in Dubai, i have to wait to re-finance it in Doha, then pay off the Dubai finance and then i can re-register it in Doha. (follow me?) , so i was planning on driving the car to Doha leaving it with Dubai plates for a month or so, then when I've re-financed it, register it in Doha.

The reason I'm doing it is the car is only 3 months old and i don't want to loose the money on selling and buying.

Anyone done this before or have any friends that have done it? i have a few questions (I'm British) :

How do i get a Saudi transit visa (can i get it at the boarder)

How long would the drive take?

Thanks in advance

I am here in Doha on a tourist visa and do visa runs once a month. Will be getting residency permit in the future.

I am currently driving a rental car, but my company (which I am in the process of setting up in qatar) wants to switch to a company car from UAE.

The car has UAE plates. Is there a way I can drive this vehicle from UAE to Qatar, and how long can I drive it with UAE plates?

If i am "technically" on tourist visa can i drive company vehicle without transferring registration?

Options?

Thanks

If i understand that correctly, both Saudi and Qatar insurance can be done at the border? all i need to organise is the NOC from the finance company and my transit visa through Saudi and I can enter Qatar and get visa at the border as i am British, i may already have may Qatar visa organised by then anyway.

Sounds pretty easy. . . . but things in the Middel east never are. soon find out!

Insurance is done at the border as one cannot enter the country with having at least third party insurance.

Got Saudi transit visa from an agent near Sana for 75QR each. Had to give him company's letter and car registration copy. Took him 4 days to return passports.

I was not able to take company's provided car as car rental people told me that the car has to be in your name to be able to go out of Doha.

Saudi insurance was 75 SR for 14 days and UAE insurance for 14 days was about same.

Got UAE visa on the border for 100 DH each. UAE visa on border is subject to your profession stamped on your residence visa.

You have to get Saudi transit visa in advance. Since the car in on bank loan, a NOC from the bank is also required.

My last trip from Al Ain to Doha took me 6-1/2 hours with the border formalities.

From Dubai the total distance is about 650 km. Saudi stretch is about 120 kms.

Roads are not bad at all.

Sure. I see cars from other places quite frequently. I know you have to buy Saudi insurance at the border; does the same thing apply for Qatar? If it doesn't, you might check your current insurance and make sure that you're covered for accidents outside the Emirates.

How long is the Saudi stretch anyway? When you look on a map, it's just teeny tiny.

Yes you can drive it while still on Dubai Plates, I know friends that have done it, you buy insurance at the border. Check with a Travel Agency to see if they can get you the Transit visa for Saudi, I don't think you can get it at the border.

YES. I can get the export plates, once I've paid off the finance in Dubai. What i was trying to find out is, if i can drive it there while still on Dubai plates, then drive it back in a months time to get the export plates etc etc.

Cheers

I thought you had to get "Export plates" on a Car before you could import to Any Country, i.e you have to get it removed from Dubai Registers before being able to import it to Qatar.
