Little different from the thread but is related to license

I am planning to move to Doha and am currently in the UAE holding a valid driving license. Can I convert my license in Doha or I have to go through the test? If yes, anyone knows what is the procedure? If no, Is the test so difficult and how long does it take to get the license?

Thanks in advance

When i took my test here, i had no choice other than manual... The driving school didn't even have any automatic cars...

Yeah ... you can choose between automatic or manual transmission, but if you got the automatic license, you will not be allowed to drive any manual transmission car.

When I took the driving test in mid Oct, I found that some other ladies got an exemption from the police - to be tested in an automatic transmission car instead of the manual one. Rats! If only I knew ...

But anyway... it's possible.

/By the way, can't he just convert his Egyptian license?
