Furnished Appartment in West Bay

Dear Everyone,

I am new to this forum and I hope that I posted this topic in the right category.

I will move to Doha around the beginning of September and currently I am looking for suitable accomodation.

I have been on a two-day trip just this week and had a look at some opportunities. But none of that really suited. So here´s my challenge:

I only have a budget of QR 10.000,- per month and I am looking at a furnished 1-BR appartment to suit the following requirements:

- 1 Bedroom, 1 Living room
- Fully furnished (modern, solid funiture)
- Full kitchen
- West Bay area
- Compound
- Bathroom not too shabby
- Pool, Gym, within building/compound, best case also supermarket (or close by)

I´ve already been looking at e.g. Beverly Hills Tower/Regency, the ASAS Towers, Mövenpick and Ezdan Suites. Beverly Hills/Regency have the right quality, but are over budget, so was ASAS and Mövenpick (would have been my favourite). Ezdan is around the right budget, but quality is rather poor in comparison.

Maybe it´s just no realistic, but if anyone might have some tipps/recommendation where to find something like that, I´d be so grateful...

Many thanks in advance for your help - all the best,
David

1 bedroom at 11K in the serdal tower (Bilal Suites) sounds about right.

6 months ago they were 12K. I know they have come down recently though.

The 2 beds used to go for 16K and the 3 beds for 18K. I do not know by how much these have gone down now though.

If anyone needs any contact details there just send me a PM.

I have looked around for Bilal Studios (Serdan Towers maybe) and it is priced at 11,000 for a 1 bdrm. This link is from qatar living site.

Also, for Bilal especially have a look at the pool because it seems pretty small, but everything else seems good.

ps: Disclaimer I am only talking from stuff I investigated online. I will be in Qatar 2 weeks from now.

Wow - Beverly Hills sounds great. Drove by there on my last trip visiting the Villagio Mall and I liked the place already from the outside look.

Do you have a contact so I can email or call them directly? Would be grateful for a short pm...

They usually start at mid-30s.

Your budget is low for what you want in West Bay. My suggestion is to change your location and/or raise your budget.

Dude, I'd sure like to know more about apartments at the Pearl for QR 9,500. The best price I have seen is QR 20,000 for a 2-bdr.

David, can you post what rents you have been quoted at the various buildings in West Bay? I didn't realize the Movenpick had long term units available. Were they similar to the "W"?

today I had a conversation with a guy that asked me if I knew people that needed apartments in the Pearl. I did not pay to much attention to the subject, but if I see him i'll ask him specifics and let you know.

I thought The Pearl might not open before Spring next year. Are they already offering apartments for rent in August/September?

Exiledsaint, you mentioned Serdan Tower. Searching the net, I couldn´t find anything with that name. Do you have a contact or a website where to look? Thanks so much :)

Or have a look at the Pearl, I think you can find proper suites there for 9.500, connects very well to West Bay.

West Bay is your problem, or lower you standards with regards to accommodation.

I recommend Ain Khaled as a compound. Amazing! Also Beverly Hills Al Rayan seems to be excellent.

Surely, you'll have to drive a bit further every day. But hey it is still Doha you can piss from east to west and still hit the sand at the other side.

Try Serdan Tower next to QFC. Should be able to get the one bed for 10K. The manager who runs it will try to rip you off, but don't listen to his chat about how fantastic the market is in Doha.

Thanks very much for your comments so far. In fact, I already feared that it might not be possible to get everything together.

As I am moving there together with a colleague, one other option that we discussed, was to get a 3- or 4-BR Appartment or maybe a Villa together. Our problem is, that all mutiple-BR appartments we have seen so far have a very large living area and quite small bedrooms. If there were other combinations (mid-size living room and larger bedrooms) that might also be an option for us. That would put up the budget to around QR 20k for a Villa or a larger appartment together.

@mmyke: Am I getting you right that furnished Villas in West Bay might be available already at 20k?

Many thanks,

David

Remove West Bay from the equation and you might have a chance to find what you want on the outskirts of town.

I am in the West Bay area and have a Villa, but am looking for another,,,my recent checking has not discovered anything in that price range,,,Furnished Villas are 20-25 thousand, and honestly you can't furnish one yourself,,,

First thought when I read your post was "Somethings gotta go!" Either your budget or your requirements list will need altering, I'd reckon.

The reason Ezdan is within budget is because it's apparently crud. I don't see any of your other requirements being out of budget - you can surely get them all for 10k, just probably not in West Bay.

I have the almost exact same requirements to you and will be working on a similar budget when I move out of company accommodation. My preference would be for West Bay area but I have already concluded it would blow my budget out of the water to get the requisite facilities and quality in that area. Therefore, I'll have to look elsewhere and I suspect you'll have to do so also or compromise your standards to live in the area.

Good luck anyway
