Help! First time in Doha!

By newbeginnings07

hi there. I just passed the excruciating application and waiting-to-get-hired part of my life as a Flight attendant at Qatar airways. I'll be arriving in Doha on the 10th of this month. I have no idea what to expect aside from the reminder from our coordinators that it's winter in Qatar until March. What kind of winter clothes should i bring? Will I be freezing cold if I just bring ordinary jackets/sweaters? Should i be wearing thermals/boots/socks/etc. upon arrival? I have no clue...help me out pls. thanks!

all i could say is, applying for the position as a flight attendant was way harder than I thought it would be. out of 700+ applicants on day 1, only 14 were chosen after one grueling month. i'm very much happy with the result and my batchmates are all beautiful and not to mention very friendly and kind. don't worry, we'll try our best to do our jobs really well. hope to be flying with one of you guys really soon :) take care!

UKEngQatar... But still there are a lot of cute ones in QA...We are definetely not going to run out of them... It will affect the QA business... lol

I kinda agree with you Intelligent. I would say that they should smart, good in appearance and mostly important of all polite. I have travelled to various destination through out last year. Although QA hires from all nationalities I found that on different routes their attitude was different. For example travelling to Heathrow was about ok, but the flight to Sri Lanka for example they were well below par. I personally believe that the courtesy factor is disappearing from the FA nowadays. They seem to be just their job not enjoying. just my thoughts.

UkEngQatar QA is not hiring cows. lolz... First few years of QA they were only hiring very cute and beautiful flight attendant but nowadays they are not that concerned in looks (just hire anyone sort off stuff). I hope they reconsider and start hiring cute ones. I remember once I saw one FA on flight to Heathrow from Doha, she was from Switzerland. She was so cute and very polite like an angel. Sadly I never saw her after that flight.

No worries were what ever (just normal winter clothes).

Peace.

Dont forget to bring gas mask. :D just kidding. Flees jacket will do great, to keep you warm than any other jackets. Sweaters is also good at home or walking out in the day time. scarf is also helpful.

Good luck with you in Qatar and new job. :)

well you will never understand Doha's weather. one time it's freezing next time the sun burns ur head. u should definately keep a jacket on the side. scarf for emergencies just in case it was a windy day since it's a desert here the wind will blow u. but sweaters and gloves and boots are not nneeded. i just wear some spring sweater a jacket sometimes at night for sure but not needed during the day.

hope i helped
