Thank you very much for your answers, hope we practise some of them ourselves and make life a lot more worth living, while we're out here in Qatar.

Have offices start at different times like 6:30, 7:00 7:30... and so on. The same can be applied to schools as well. This will at lest stop the congestions in mornings and afternoon.

i agree with the car pooling and more efficient bus/public transport system. maybe increase the price of fuel and then see how many use their car to go around the corner to buy chai :P

car pooling and public transport also does good for the environment, so reduce YOUR carbon footprint :)

10 Commandments for better road convinience.

1.Remove all Roundabouts and put signal instead.

2.Add toomany fly overs.

3.Make oneway in matar qadeem and other hot areas like this.

4.Insist to pullout vehicle to nearest location for accident vehicle so that it wont block the road.

5.Quick response from police necessary.

6.Need electronic sign board on every major roads indicating present situation on the road.Eg if conjested it should be displayed ahead so that they can take diversified routes.

7.All radio channels should have traffic feedback system from public and to be updated every 10 minutes to plan ahead.

8.Increase no.of tracks whereever possible.

9.Need more signboards for location.

10.Control New license issue rate.

Most of the traffic jams happened due to the accident in the road becuase of bad driving,if it can reduce,,,more than 60% problems can be sorted out.

Option 1

Leg power. Build sheltered walkways for pedestrians and covered bicycle tracks. Short distances can now be reached without cars, taxis and buses. Environment friendly and good exercise too.

Option 2

Of course an underground subway or overhead mass people mover would be nice.

Option 3

Designate sheltered carpool pickup and drop off points with proper railings for orderly queues. Set affordable rates to avoid prices going up too much and then it becomes undesireable as an option. However Karwa may not like this idea as it kills their business.

Option 4

Often you see only the driver in a big car. Smaller cars like the cute SWATCH smart car may cause less traffic jam.

Our contribution?

- start early to office, so as to drive calm and always courteous to those in hurry.

- stick to lane discipline and dont get jealous/agitated of those who dont care a fig, for rules.

-Short lunch breaks are to be better spent at office catching up on your pending/expected works.

- Encourage car pooling, as there is no rule against this.

-Opt for less space consuming smaller cars for parking and getting-out-of-traffic-bottleneck benefits.

-If office timings permit, schedule your partner's travel with you rather than on a cab, this also helps you communicate more as a family !

carpooling...there should be a law where private vehicles will not be allowed if only one passenger is in it (the driver)...there should be at least 3 passengers in one car...

also, number code... for example, all plate numbers ending with 0-3 will only be allowed to be on the road from 7am-8pm, during sundays, wednesday (onward time or before 7a.m any number can travel) ...then monday- thursday 4-6 so forth and so on...this is a number scheme referring to their plate numbers.. :)

First of all it should be derived as common public interest & Effort!

The most common traffic congestion noticed during peak office in/out times and at City Backbone roads like C-ring, D-Ring, Cornish, Airport Roads etc..

I would suggest make these roads free flow, don’t allow intersections/crossing signals during peak hours! Long U turn roads and other alternatives can be more effective!

If office timings are straight shifts then ,that can reduce the noon time blocks to some extend!

Improve the Public Transport systems to key landmark points in a effective & attractive way to tempt make use of it , corporations can take initiatives by offering monthly passes to their employees.

Don’t allow heavy trucks and other heavy industrial vehicles during peak hours on Main backbone roads! it is noticed that some Advertisement Carrying VAN BOXs at those main roads which adds congestion such kind of stuffs should be discouraged!

welcome all other comments!

Petition to get more intelligent traffic signals, which don't stay on green for ages even if there's no traffic coming.

If people would actually learn how to drive properly, then there would be less accidents and congestion on the roads. :)
