How long do visas take??

We are moving to Doha from Abu Dhabi in Jan and my husband is due to go to Doha after Eid for two weeks to sort out his visa. I have been reading websites that say his visa could take up to six weeks. Is this true? In which case, his visa takes 6 weeks and then our visa takes 6 weeks.. we will not be able to be in Qatar in late Dec/early Jan. Or can we come on a temporary visa? And what about our maid? I know we can only apply for her once we have our residency visas but can she not come in on a temporary visa and then convert it while she is in Doha with us. Or does she have to go back to the Phillipines? Any help would be appreciated.

Actually the visa can be faster. I came on 16/11, did medical on 17/11, finger printing yesterday and got my ID & RP today.

In fact, I did my eye test just now and will be converting my driver licence to Qatar Driver Licence tomorrow.

1st husband come - takes atleast 2 weeks for making the resident visa. (For police clearance it takes atleaset 1 week)

2nd wife and kids can come... provided your husband is in good job and earning good salary...

For applying for family visa .. he needs the following:

Company letter, company contract copy, house rental agreement, marriage certificate with attestation, 6 months bank statement... for all these things it takes atleast 2 weeks.

For bank statement - if you r in good posistion then atleast one transaction of bankstatement is ok.

so no point in hurrying.. so ideal send the family home country.. and once everything is over ..then let them come to qatar.

check www.hukoomi. website for all details..

Depends what nationality you are.If you are holding passport which allows you a visa on arrival, then you can come to Doha on visit visa and stay here while your husband's company get's your family visa done. With regards to the nanny situation yes you would have to get it done later after your family visa is done, since she is from Philippines.
