I'm going to need a Sat Nav when I arrive next month.

Can anyone advise me on how much they cost over in Qatar please?

I don't need the top model, only the basic sort.

I've seen on similar threads that Garmin is the only make available.

Is this true?

Cheers

you can also get third party maps. I have updated my handheld Garmin GPS with free map of Qatar. Didnt cost me anything. If anyone want, I can mail.

Garmin isn't the only option, you can also get generic brands. Route 66 also maps Qatar.

You also can simply use satnav phones. I use an nokia N95 8GB

Dont worry to much about getting lost in Doha, you'll always be circling around your house the first couple of days and after that its all there for you to discover. Small city so save your money...you could use it to try out the different friday branches (buffet at local 5 star hotels) for almost a yr....

Sweetclog,

The Guys who answered above say that Garmin is the only sat nav that will work in Qatar.

I have looked on the TomTom website and they don't do maps for the Middle East.

I have trawled the internet also but can't find anything.

So it looks like you will have to sell the TomTom and buy a Garmin like I will have to when I get there.

Hi, My family and myself will move to Qatar in April, we already have a TomTom that works fine in Europe. Does anyone know if there are maps for Qatar, UAE and other countries in Middle East that I can download or purchase?  Do I need to buy a new Tom Tom?
